Chinese students around me often go there, so I followed them. Overall, everything was above average and the fish dishes were delicious. The atmosphere is good for a cheap place. It was absurd that the clerk pretended not to hear me when I called, but it was a good Chinese restaurant option in the area.

I swear I haven't had such a terrible meal in a long time. Sweet or not, salty or not. Not as good a cook as my

My partner and I saw this on a walk and it looked so nice we decided to go in and try it and we’re glad we did! The restaurant is so well done inside and the food is delicious ?

(Overall: 68% | D) - Overall, the service was good, but everything else was not. The food was three strikes that all missed and the ambience is riddled with unpleasant flies.(Wuxi Pork Ribs: 67.5% | D) - The pork ribs taste fine and has an okay amount of food, but this type of cooking is what I would expect from perhaps a Chinese home-style dinner and definitely not a restaurant as it is just uninteresting and really isn't a complete dish as it is very monotone.(Drunken Chicken: 60% | D) - The chicken is incredibly bland and needs a lot more flavor whether its salt, ginger, scallion, or other spices. The marinade liquid does not pair well with the chicken as it is bland on bland and overall was a very big miss.(Pan Fried Xiaolongbao: 75% | C) - This is a bit creative, but I think there is a clear reason other restaurants don't serve this and that's because the soup will not stay in. This is a case of keeping the concepts of pan fried buns and soup dumplings separate for the best.IG: @amei.eats

We walked by this place and loved the outside dining area. However, it attracts a lot of flies...The food was ok, touristy and flavors are more adapted to Western taste buds than traditional Chinese. We had Har Gow which were good, but standard taste (just like the frozen ones you get from the grocery store). The drunken chicken had a little off flavor of sour and bitter, I really can't recommend this. The Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce was ok, but too sweet. The service was friendly and welcoming, and pretty fast.

I find none of the dishes qualified for Shanghai cuisine. Meatballs are too salty and hard, cabbage hard to digest, pork belly is not at all sweet, which is the essence of Shanghai cuisine. I won’t recommend this restaurant for any reason as a local.

A decent, pretty authentic Shanghainese restaurant! We wandered in on Saturday around 1pm and the restaurant was pretty empty. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoor for the AC and we're seated right away. There's two menus to order from, with dim sum as appetizers, but not a big selection of vegetables compared to meat dishes. We ended up ordering the ribs, eggplant with mushroom, cold drunken chicken, and two bowls of rice. The rice bowls were quite small. The drunken chicken came out right away and although I don't love cold food, it was surprisingly flavorful and savory and I really enjoyed it. The ribs and eggplants were both quite sweet, which is typical of Shanghai food. The ribs could've been more tender but were flavorful, and the eggplant was melt in your mouth soft. Total came out to be $60 with tax and top, and we had a good amount of eggplant left over. This is definitely a good place to stop by if you're in the area and specifically want shanghai food.

It was great! We drove past it while going somewhere else and just stopped in. The staff was so nice and helpful. Plus the food was amazing. 4 people with around dishes. It was amazing.

During my trip to New York City this was probably one of the best unexpected and hidden gems that I came across during my stay. My friend and I had originally been trying to go to a different restaurant with dumplings but it was not open when we arrived. We of course know Shanghainese food includes soup dumplings and other dumpling varieties. We had passed by tipsy Shanghai while walking to the other place and decided that we should go back just knowing what we know and I'm so glad that we did.We pretty much tried every type of dumpling that they have on the menu for me the winners were the soup dumplings. Their soup is so flavorful and it's what I feel like is lacking in most soup dumplings that I've had. I truly enjoyed everyone that they had! This is the type of restaurant that brings things out as they are ready so that might rub some people the wrong way who might be used to other types of restaurants where servers bring all the food at the exact same time. I truly prefer this because it's kind of like an unexpected train of delicious food that never stops until you're ready to stop!We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon the week before nyu's graduation and it was actually very quiet. They were only three other tables being used when we got there.I have bookmarked this place and I will definitely try to visit the next time I am in town!

Our waiters were were great! We just stumbled up on this great little place. We got the lunch special and honestly this was a lot of food for three people, but we got try alittle bit of all their stuff.

What a beautifully decorated space! The menu is so interesting (and VERY reasonably priced), and the staff friendly and gracious.

Another bookmark down and for such a wonderful dining experience! My friends and I had dinner at Tipsy Shanghai after a fashion event nearby. It's a step down to step in type of restaurant and we loved the look. The red decorated screens, soft Asian music and porcelain chopsticks give it an authentic Shanghai vibe. Vintage in appearance, it feels like we rolled backwards in a time machine and arrived somewhere during the early 80's.We started our night with cocktails. My Tipsy Mai Tai wasn't very buzzy but it also wasn't overly sweet. Tasty. A friend in my group enjoyed her Cosmo. My wonton soup was served in a bowl large enough for two. The wontons were scrumptious and the broth was excellent. I ordered crispy orange beef for my main course. Sooo good. My friends really enjoyed their steak and broccoli, shrimp and broccoli and General Tso meals. We asked if there was any hot chili oil available and we received a cool little pot of it to drizzle on our food. Our waitress, Ivy, was bubbly, attentive and fun-a true joy to behold. I look forward to more Ladies Nights and exploring more of the Tipsy Shanghai menu. They also offer an array of wines to sip from.

I honestly wanted to love this place considering all the hype around it but it was a major let down. Fried rice had no taste other than just an oily film coating your mouth. Dongpo pork had more flavor than the fried rice but nothing memorable. The slice Szechuan pork was a major let down. It did not taste nor look like traditional twice cooked pork. It seems like all the people leaving glowing reviews have never been to any other traditional Chinese restaurant outside of this little bubble. Service was meh, I understood they were busy so no points off. Just bad food in my opinion.

Very cozy and quaint specialized Chinese restaurant. It’s not a typical place for the traditional style NY Chinese you can find everywhere. The flavors and textures are varied and you should try it for a new experience. The menu is dim sum focused with a number of larger dishes to share. I loved the special warmed rice pudding with red bean paste and not too sweet of a glaze on top for dessert.Vegetarian options: There’s a variety of vegetarian dim sum options
