Solid place for a modern Javanese cuisine experience. I recommend sitting in the back side as it’s more open/relaxed than the busy/cozy front. The ambiance has interesting elements of Indonesia and food provides a creative French twist. Dishes are expensive but everything is freshly made to order and served quick. We tried a bunch of things like the sashimi, satays, tartare, octopus, Brussel sprouts but the most delicious item was Corn fritters. It’s irresistibly good.Drinks & desserts too have a unique Indonesian spin to classics - definitely worth trying a few like their Dharmawangsa. Service wins with waiters patiently explaining the concept & menu items.Really glad I went out of my comfort zone to try Wayan!

Honest opinion from an Asian foodie.I ordered: lobster noodle, steamed sea bass, duck breastTo my disappointment, the lobster noodle was not up to par. A lot of reviews recommend it, i give it a 3 stars. Tastes good but it reminds me of ramen noodles, really really good ramen noodles.Food was good, the delivery was on point, the tastes were rich, but to me it feels like homemade Indonesian food.Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love homemade. But this is homemade with a 5 star pricing disguise.I feel like the decor and ambience is what people came to pay for.It was a great experience but i would not see myself coming back just for the food.Thank you Wayan for your hospitality

Food was good, especially the lobster noodles. As a Java native, I wish I could give it 5 stars, alas, the service felt glib - there was some confusion when they had to move us to the bar - not true to the Indonesian hospitality we were expecting to match the overall brand. Cocktails were fab and we had a great evening nonetheless and will recommend to others.

Very overpriced and did not taste the uniqueness of the indo-French cuisine more like the restaurant has French and Indonesian dishes. Lobster noodles are just indomie+ lobster ?. Duck was under seasoned and a bit under cooked, can't eat the duck without the curry and the curry was too sweet. Pandan custard was more like passion fruit custard and acidity of the passion fruit wiped out everything... Cocktail just all about the look.

Food, atmosphere and cocktails were fantastic. The corn fritter, rendang escargot and the chicken were great. Fried rice quantity was pretty small. The cocktail “Wrisky Business” is among the best I’ve ever had. The pricing was off-the-mark for the quantity of the food, but not for the flavour.

I can't recommend going to Wayan unfortunately. Our Server had quite an attitude right from the start. When we asked to have another moment to choose our drinks, she took the drinks menu away and left. For some reason another server then took over with us and went through the whole menu again. We ordered, and between ordering and asking for the bill, we did not see any of our two servers again, just some runners dropped off food without much comment. The food was very underwhelming, especially the duck was freezing cold and unseasoned. We asked for one minor alteration with the food (no fresh cilantro garnish), and every dish had fresh cilantro as garnish on it.On the only positive note: The cocktails were nice and the ambience was good.In the end, nobody even asked once how the food was, we just got dropped the bill off at our table in a rush.

Really wanted to like this place, but left underwhelmed. Atmosphere and cocktails were great, but the food was lackluster. Lamb and chicken skewers were unforgivably dry. Gado gado salad needed more oomph. Crispy squid languished on the table. Spring rolls and chickpea skewer were great. Crab fried rice was too gentil, lacked seasoning and the rice itself was very soft. Brussels sprouts were good. Prawn cracker was forgettable. Desserts are phoned in - everything comes with a flavored ice cream that just lacked imagination. The pandam custard was a standout, but it’s no more tantalizing than a passionfruit noosa on sale at Whole Foods for $2.49. Overall, it’s sad to see vibrant Indonesian flavores reduced to this.

Wow the flavors were incredible! The lobster noodles were delicious and so were the lamb skewers! The desserts were also so yummy! You can really taste the unique blend of flavors. Highly recommend!

As an Indonesian I had some reluctance trying Indonesian fusion food but I was not disappointed. Bottom line, the food is good. But more than that, the taste profile is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, Indonesian or otherwise. Each dish honored its original Indonesian concept, while the French portion of it was never too overpowering. I don’t think I’ve ever described food as tasting beautiful but this food was that. Everything was just really well executed, not to mention the great service as well. Enak sekali.

Incredible spot for Indonesian food! Starting with the ambiance to the food and drinks. The food is unique and very tasty. Highly recommend the lobster noodles (very creamy), spring rolls and satay (lamb). The desserts were amazing, which is saying a lot since most desserts in these fancy restaurant are usually average . We got the chocolate ganache and key lime .

This is our absolute favorite new restaurant. From the food, which can only be described as a sensory adventure of unexpected and bold flavors, to the service (shout out to Thomas who is probably the best server in the city), Wayan lives up to every expectation. Thank you to the whole team for giving us an incredible evening.

They force you to give them your phone number even to sit at a table with no wait. I don’t want to be on your text list

A Disappointing Experience at Wayan RestaurantRating: ⭐My recent visit to Wayan Restaurant left me thoroughly dissatisfied, and I regret spending my evening there. Here are the key reasons for my disappointment:1. Excessive Waiting Time:We arrived on time for our 7:00 PM reservation, which was provided after being told there was no availability at 7:30 PM. Shockingly, we waited for a staggering 43 minutes before being seated, a delay that left us frustrated and questioning the efficiency of their reservation system.2. Unpleasant Cocktail Experience:The cocktail I ordered was nothing short of a disaster. It tasted more like perfume than a drink, making it undrinkable. It was disheartening to have such a poor culinary experience right from the start.3. Cold Food:When our food finally arrived, it was disappointingly cold. This lack of attention to the basics of food service is unacceptable, and it significantly detracted from the overall dining experience.4. Overcrowded and Uncomfortable Atmosphere:The restaurant was so packed that people were practically on top of each other. Throughout the evening, I had to endure the constant jostling of backpacks hitting my shoulder and even took an elbow to the arm. The lack of personal space made the dining environment uncomfortable and far from enjoyable.5. Misleading Gesture:To add insult to injury, we were offered a complementary cold plate of food. While the intention may have been to make amends, it only served as a stark reminder of the subpar quality of their dishes. A more appropriate gesture would have been to ensure the timely service of hot and fresh meals. In conclusion, Wayan Restaurant failed to meet even the most basic expectations, and my experience was marred by extended waiting times, subpar drinks, cold food, and an uncomfortably overcrowded atmosphere. I would strongly advise potential diners to consider other options that prioritize customer satisfaction and the quality of their offerings.

It was really disappointing. We ordered the scallop and pork satay, duck, crab fried rice and sashimi. Compared to what we expected, we got overpriced food with very low quality.
