Hotel is in terrible state, food was much more terrible. Fried rice was completely oily, fried rice for 3 plates could have been prepared with that oil used. My son was completely sick after having food over there. I am not sure how good reviews are found here may be now management is changed and its not good. I cannot post review without star, else its not worth for single star also.

There is nothing of madras or anywhere near south Indian about this restaurant. We ordered Biriyani, idli sambar and rajma rice during our visit to Madras Cafe. Biriyani had too much salt, rajma had no flavor and idli felt like rubber. On top of all this, we were charged $35 even when we did not have 10% of what we ordered and gave them negative comments openly. We were told that the chef had 17years of experience under his belt but we did not see that experience in the food. I wish there was a zero star option because this one does not deserve even 1 star.
My family decided to try Madras Cafe bc there was a half an hour wait time at Zaika. We ordered dosa, egg chicken rolls and a chicken biryani. It took them forever to bring our food. Everything tasted great but the service was pathetic. I have never experienced such horrible service in my life. So I give them 3 stars for the food.

Great food, we were there about a month ago. It is there slow season so there is a chance you will have the restaurant to yourself. We played cards and really got to know the the staff. Met the chef and picked his brain about how things were made and the origins of dishes. He was kind and patient with my curiosity. Can't say enough about the staff we met. They have spicy, savory, sweet. Finnish it off with a mango lassi or a chai. Everything is made in house from scratch and many things aremade to order. These are traditional dishes that take time but are made with Love.

We visited this restaurant for lunch and were the first customers. The service was very good and the person very accommodating with our requests. The food tasted good and my toddler enjoyed it. That seals the deal for me.
