I loved this place. Just take a very short walk south on South Ocean and duck into this small but beautiful eating establishment. Very friendly owners and servers, and the food is great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Mazza Mediterranean. In our quest to "eat through the alphabet," we were in search of authentic Afghan cuisine and we found it here! We shared several appetizers: Mantu (dumplings filled with ground beef, topped with a yogurt sauce and chickpeas), Boloni Kachaloo (breaded and fried potato with yogurt-cilantro sauce), Borani Banjan (eggplant with yogurt-tomato sauce), and the house-supplied pita and hummus and olive tapenade. For the main dishes, we chose Kabuli pulao (Afghanistan's "National dish": lamb shank with rice and raisins, flavored with cardamom and cumin) and marinated chicken kabobs. Everything was well-spiced and flavorful but not spicy-hot. The food was expertly prepared and graciously served by the owner couple, formerly of Afghanistan. Their warmth and hospitality greatly enhanced our experience. We appreciated their cultural insights. We capped our leisurely meal with tea, shir birinj (rice pudding), and great conversation. Sweet!

Keep this place a secret! Love that it's so close to the hustle of Main Street but doesn't get as big of a crowd. Space is bright and clean. You're greeted with a plate of warm pita and dips when you arrive, and staff is always warm, welcoming and so open to questions and knowledgeable about the food and preparation. Menu is extensive, with options for Greek and Afghan food and both are delicious. We try something new every time we come, in addition to tried and true favorites like the Mantu, Spanakopita and selection of dips, and have never been disappointed. Delivery is always flawless too, and quality doesn't suffer when using the delivery service. Highly recommend Mazza!

Best Afghan food in New York!!!!! Loved that it was run by an Afghan family with the concept of Afghan and Meditatarean cuisine!! The ambiance was lovely and decorative and nostalgic feeling which made you transport back home!! The service was beyond amazing and hospitality. They give us complimentary fresh naan paired with olive paste and sun dried hummus. I ordered Mantu with side of lentil soup. The Mantu was cooked and steamed very well you can tell because it didn't fall off and it was very flavorful and stuffed with perfect portion of meat and topping. The lentil soup was very hearty and tasty!! Let's not forget the Kabuli Paluo Afghans national dish!! Consisted of rice, caramelized carrots, nuts, and raisins!! Can't forget the mixed meat platter that was just juicy specially the koobideh!! To finish the night have space for some shir e bernj and lava cake topped with ice cream with side of green tea!!

Came here with 4 adults and 3 toddlers and the staff were so welcoming and friendly!! They were genuinely so happy to serve you and made sure everything was perfect. And the food… amazing. Very authentic food, every dish is made with love and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. One of our friends said it was the best gyro they’ve had in a long time… and the baklava came out hot. It was super delicious! Definitely coming back!!
