Went to eat here twice now.would not be a bad place if the cooks listen to what the customer wants..i feel bad for the waitress they clearly do it on purpose..both times the cooks acted like children and both times cooks frustrated to different waitresses bc they don't want to read the ticket.. Also if you watch them they are womanizing illegals

As a first-time customer I can't wait to be back. You can tell the regulars are regulars for a reason, the bacon egg and cheese was the best I've had in YEARS.

Been going here since I was little. The new owners as of (2023) are very nice and the food is great! I will continue to keep coming back!!!Parking: Park on the side of building is easier.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of choices and room.

New to the area and am happy to have found a diner with great food and service. The owner and her family are kind are hospitable. They create a great atmosphere by decorating and hosting events for the holidays, which I love. Food is made right in front of you and is served quickly. Also, the bacon and French toast is amazing!!

John sold the business and it'll never ever be the same. Tried to go back but they were fitting out the place. All the Life of the grill and its "greasy Spoon" ambiance is gone. I may never go back. Was a regular customer for 25 years. The best Griddle cakes (not pancakes) in Dutchess County. My last breakfast was the best reminiscing with John and the gang. Hats off to you John Enjoy your retirement my friend

My husband and I decided to try The Big Tomato for a Sunday morning breakfast for takeout. I ordered through Google: 3 pancakes ($7.99), a cheese omelet ($10.59), a side of bacon ($3) and a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich ($5). Everything with tax and the convenience fee, it came to $30.24. During pickup, my husband saw it was really clean in there with such old-fashioned decor. We get back home to find only two pancakes, a very slim sausage, barely any egg and cheese sandwich and a tiny omelet. We quickly regretted placing this order. I called to let them know there were only two pancakes in the to-go container. She offered to make us another pancake, which I declined and requested a refund. I got an email stating she only refunded me $1! So they're meaning to tell me two pancakes only cost $6.99? I doubt it! Their prices are all over the place for their items and don't make any sense. $10.59 for an omelet alone with no including sides???? Really??? We've gotten bigger egg sandwiches elsewhere for a more reasonable price, too. This was a massive disappointment. You can definitely say we won't be returning as they totally ripped us off!

I have been going to the Big Tomato since 1980 so I have enjoyed John's cooking for a long time. I'm happy for John's retirement, but would miss the perfectly thin omelets and home fries. My friend and I went today and the recipes have been passed on to the new chef. We will be back to enjoy many more breakfasts there.New grill, stools and booths and same ambience, service and ? wallpaper. Please support the new Big Tomato.

The only affordable diner left! I got a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a coffee for $5. Plus, the server kept refilling my coffee cup so I really got 3 cups. It was the first time in my life that I left a 40% tip.

Been going here for over 30 years and the food here is the best!! John, the owner, remembers everyone’s name. The pancakes are literally to die for if you enjoy crepe style pancakes. I do!!! I do!!! If this is a place you haven’t tried yet because the ambiance is a little iffy , go here!!

I made a wasted trip to this restaurant today. I travelled all the way from Wappingers Falls only to find that the place was closed. It was 8:30 in the morning when I arrived. A large piece of paper was attached to the glass door, informing me that the restaurant was open seven days a week, from 6:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. And yet, the place was closed at 8:30 A.M., without the management providing even so much as a note of explanation. Talk about false advertising. If I had only had my digital camera on my person, then I would have photographed the whole thing, and I would upload the photograph onto this Yelp website, in order to publicly humiliate the management. I wish these people could reimburse me the money I spent on the bus fare. If I had flushed that money down the toilet, then I would have achieved the same end result.
