Out of Business ? Nearby I found a sign for the "Sunflower Cafe", attached to "Sunflower Natural Foods" Grocery, but no enterance and nothing called "Garden St Cafe" in the area. And the phone number is out of service.

I think the food here is great, a little too expensive actually but I am willing to pay if I really enjoy the meal. My only problem with this place is the owner Faith, maybe I always catch her on a bad day but it is hardly worth going into a place when she is constantly trying to convince me to buy another dish, mostly the specials I think, and will always try to get me to add on to my order. Much of time I get a craving for my favorite veggie burger but then I think about these encounters with her and I go someplace else in the area.

This is my favorite place to eat in Rhinebeck. It's tucked in the back, next to the Health Food store (which I only shop at when I stop to get lunch at Garden street...) Faith and her team create the best food, with a fun, entertaining atmosphere. Some of my favorites are the rice and salad w/Japanese dressing, Avocado Supreme, and all of their specials. If you're not sure what to get because it all looks so good, just tell Faith how you're feeling, and she'll no doubt make the perfect choice for you.

The shops and restaurants on the main streets of Rhinebeck get a lot of attention, and some deservedly so, but there are a host of little places tucked away on the side streets of Rhinebeck that will surprise you. This café is tucked away inside a shop, tucked away on one of those side streets. But it's amazing. It's vegetarian (mostly - I think they have tuna). I am not a vegetarian. I like meat very... very much. But I went on the recommendation of a friend and was blown away. The space, first of all, is decked out with little postings and whiteboard handwriting that convey an immediate sense of the vibe, both of the Rhinebeck community and the café's extremely friendly owner. While the wall decor gives a feel of chaos, the surfaces are immaculate and bright - big plusses, in my book. I am not gifted in the art of idle banter, but owner Faith greeted me warmly, introduced me to the other patrons, asked if I knew what I wanted, but also offered to simply "feed me" if I couldn't decide. As I am also not gifted in speed-reading menus and whiteboard specials, I took the surprise option. I got one of their signature veggie burgers in a wrap with avocado. To be candid, the thought of "veggie" burgers makes my tummy sad, so when she mentioned it, I hesitated, but I'm glad I kept my mouth shut. They said it's a recipe that takes two days to prepare, but the blend of flavors they manage to achieve with it is entirely worth it. I will definitely have that again. The tables in the cafe seem small, and a space is tight, but with my laptop and their Wifi, I was surprisingly productive during lunch and found myself with plenty of room to work and eat. Looking forward to the next visit

Alright, people. Basically? My taste buds shot out of my mouth like the grandchildren of two hybrid spider monkeys that had double hybrid spider monkey babies that made the actual triple hybrid spider monkey grandchildren babies of which I speak of, after experiencing the experience that I experienced. I hope you understand the extremities of what was just said. THAT VEGGIE BURGER WAS AMAZING. I want another one just thinking about it's perfection.

"Meh" sums up this businesses customer service and high cost for mediocre food. The last time i went to this place they were rude, charging me for items i didnt ask for, and gave me a less than impressive dish. I would consider going back when they lower the prices and hire kinder people behind the register. Plus, i got ill from my meal.

The food is great but the service is underwhelming. I think perhaps the employees, including the owner, need to learn that their guests have ears and can hear what they are talking about. Especially when it is about them! It is a shame because I enjoy the food but have turned off by their actions.

It is easy to overlook Garden Street Cafe because it is located within the confines of Rhinebeck Health Foods Inc, but if you discover this local wonder for yourself it will undoubtedly quickly become one of your favorite places to eat in the area. Forget the idea that Garden Street Cafe is a vegetarian establishment because the fact is that the food they serve is just plain delicious, giving vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike reason to get excited. The food is fresh, good for you without compromising taste, and truly exceptional. Their menu is simple and they change their specials every day so there is always something different to look forward to. My favorites: 1) Rice and Salad (aka half and half): a combo of salad greens mixed with veggies, tofu, avocado covered in edo seasoned sesame seeds on top of organic brown rice with a side Japanese-style dressing. 2) Veggie Burger. The absolute best veggie burger I have ever tasted in my lifetime that will make even the most hard core meat eater return to Garden Street Cafe again and again. As with most of their other menu items, the veggie burger patties are able to be bought and made at home, which I have done many a time. 3) Avocado Supreme. This is one of Garden Street Cafe's specialties and it is incredible. Avocado, tomato, and Havarti cheese on multi grain bread...mmm, mmm, mmm. :) seriously. 4) Any of their organic juices/smoothies. There is usually a special of the day, but you may choose from any of their house recipes or even create your own. I particularly enjoy the frosty berry fruit shake. 5) Hummus. Although their hummus wrap is delicious I usually just pick up their side hummus to go. Honestly anything you order here is going to be delicious so give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Additional comments: -Parking: I usually park over in Rhinebeck's public parking and walk a couple blocks to Garden Street because their private lot is a bit small for my big truck. -If you are vegan you should be able to find something that you would enjoy on their menu. -If you are a meat eater and could not possibly imagine eating anything strictly vegetarian Garden Street does offer a Tuna Melt. -The seating area is a bit small, but I have always been able to find a table for my friends and I when eating there. If worst comes to worst I would take my food to go outside and sit on one of Rhinebeck's city benches if it is not too cold. -There are many offerings that are pre-made in their refrigerator that customers are able to take home with them if they do not want to eat at the cafe itself. -The only negative comment I have about Garden Street Cafe is that they are not open enough throughout the week. Monday-Saturday; 9:30 am to 4 pm. Garden Street just plain makes me happy. I wish they would expand to Southern California so I could enjoy them all the time.
