I think this is place is an over-hyped sushi place. I'd rather go to the family run ichiban in apple valley plaza. This place is too crowded layout, the sushi roll i had was good and different but the mojito i had was just a mix and the waitress and wait staff were mostly rude. not sure it's worth it.

Been to this place a couple times so far & always a pleasant experience & service is always well HOWEVER .. just left this restaurant where the service was unbelievably rude. waitress came over after a few minutes of waiting and said hello how are you with two glasses of water and after putting them down she walked away without introducing herself or saying anything else for that matter ... 10-15 min pass and she comes back not because she wanted to but because I made eye contact with her so it's almost like she snapped back into reality and then proceeded to ask us if we were ready we stated yes and placed our order. we then got our food and ate our food and then half way realized we never got our drinks so we were just drinking water which is not even that serious but the over all point is the service was half - A**. at that point she asks us if we're finished and we asked for the check she brings it over and at this point we decided the service wasn't enough for the tip. so we paid the full price and as she grabbed the check she opened it in front of us and counted the money and then asked my husband why there wasn't a tip left & stared at us waiting for a answer VERY UNPROFESSIONAL !!!! at that point we just looked at each other in disbelief and grabbed our things and left & as we were leaving we saw her complaining to her other coworkers. unbelievable!!

I stop to have dinner with a few friends who do not eat sushi. They were very impressed with the quality of shellfish and how it was cooked. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the sauces were delicious. I had the sushi, their shrimp tempura melted in your mouth. I will definitely recommend that you stop by this restaurant before you go to the theater for a show or visit the many attractions Poughkeepsie has to offer.

**Update 3/6**We’ve been here twice more since my last update, so suffice it to say, Tomo is now our go-to sushi spot. The quality of fish is nearly the best we’ve had outside of the city and cocktails are well-made. Because their pricing is comparable/slightly higher than other local places but for better quality fish, it’s hard to justify going elsewhere. I can’t speak to their hot food or cooked dishes because we only get sushi or raw items. My only recommendation is that it is tricky to go on a Friday or Saturday without a reservation so either plan ahead or expect to wait. On one Friday night visit, my husband and I were able to be seated right away but when we went back on another busy Friday night with our son, the restaurant was already packed so they offered to seat us at the sushi bar to avoid a 30 to 40 minute wait. I wasn’t a fan of sitting at the sushi bar as a family because it made it harder for us to interact plus we had less space than we would at a regular table plus it was a busy walkway behind us for staff.**Update 2/23**We’ve been here two more times and overall are really pleased with the quality of the fish. It’s one of the best local places we found in the area. The fish, particularly the Nigiri, is excellent quality. It’s nice to see offerings of high-quality options such as sea urchin and fatty tuna. I’ve dined at Michelin star sushi restaurants in Manhattan and am a sushi snob about local places but really love Tomo.We’ve been wanting to try this place and finally stopped in for lunch last Saturday. Overall we had a really great visit. The restaurant itself is elegant and the service was attentive. We enjoyed the food and the sushi quality was better than what we typically find at most neighborhood places. Presentation was very good although I wasn’t personally a fan of the fish carcass on my sashimi platter. I do wish the fish temp was closer to room temp than cold, hence the deduction of a star. I’m curious to try their omakase but we’ll definitely visit again.Kid-friendliness: My seven-year-old is very happy to dine here and we’ve never had an issue bringing him. He eats sushi and is a fan of tempura, so there’s no issue having something for him to eat.

It is one of the best Asian Fusion restaurants in the town.Parking - limited on the front of the restaurant , but plenty of free parking space available behind other restaurants and premier urology.Ambiance - interior decor 5/5 , tables are smaller and somewhat congested ( will give feeling of nyc )Staff - very helpful and courteous.Drinks - there are plenty of drink options. Overall, i would rate their drinks 4/5 . My personal preferences are bahama mama , singapore sling and mai tai.FoodApetizers - my personal favorite is chicken gyoza . You can try hurricane prawns - they were whole prawn deep fried 4/5 .Sushi rolls - there is a varied variety of sushi rolls and fusion options . Try out their signature rolls as per your meat/protein and palate choices. They also have some good vegetarian options , so you can definitely invite your vegetarian friends .Hibachi - we tried out chicken hibachi and salmon hibachi , which were really good 4/5. They also have a veg option, too.Udon/noodles - i haven't tried it out yet , but based on my friends review, i would rate it as 4/5.Golden mango shrimp - it is a unique dish with mango pieces and shrimp filled with flavors. It's unique to your taste palate , a must try.Fried rice - i tried out seafood fried rice 4/5 , they also have other options too based on your choice of protein.Overall, it's a good place , probably the best place in the town to try asian food , Next place will be in NYC .Please try out their vegetarian sushi rolls and vegetarian options , I haven't tried it out , but I would love to.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are limited.
