I was running errands around the area and decided to try this place out. I had the lunch special which was a pita sandwich with a side of fries and a drink. I got the pork souvlaki which had good potential but could've been a little more flavorful though cooked well otherwise. Service was friendly and quick. It has an open kitchen concept, which is always nice to see and lots of seating.

Lemon potatoes - good. Strong lemon flavor Combination Platter - gyro was good. Sausage and pork souvlaki was a bit salty. Chicken doner was OK. Octopus - must have. Texture and flavor was perfect. I could have used less raw onion Frappe - good Chicken lemon soup - OK. Worth trying if you like strong lemon flavor. Admin Fee for using credit card is 3.5%. We had no issues paying this for the convenience.

The souvlaki sandwich is very tasty, but their lemon chicken soup is simply the best!!

Went to Avili with hubby for dinner and couldn’t finish our food so we told our waitress to wrap up the leftovers to take home. The waitress ended up throwing everything out and after all was said and done, the waitress and manager were rummaging through the garbage to see how much of my falafel pita sandwich was left (I ate half and kept the rest wrapped in the paper and foil). Waitress didn’t even mention the other 2 (lemon potatoes and chicken souvlaki platter) that she also threw out. The outcome was that they will give me 3 free falafel balls next time I come in and order a falafel pita sandwich, which is ridiculous. How about a new sandwich or taking some $$ off the bill. Well, this is the second time something like this happened at Avili in Bayside and do not know if the waitress was drunk or high and the manager didn't care. Avili just lost a regular customer and we found a better Greek restaurant on Francis Lewis Blvd.
What a great find!!! My husband and I are both greek and we can be very critical about certain restaurants that don't serve authentic Greek food, however we give this restaurant 4 thumbs up! We felt as though we were back in Greece with the food and atmosphere! The chicken Doner platter came with a soup and side, I chose Faki soup, DELICIOUS!!! my husband got the chicken souvlaki, also delicious!! We will definitely be back! We enjoyed the food so much, and the portions were huge, so we were able to take home the leftovers and enjoy it again the next day!! Bravo ? for a memorable and enjoyable meal! ??
I’ve been coming here for years and I can honestly say they NEVER disappoint. The service is always 10/10 and the food is always consistently delicious. The grilled octopus is always amazing it’s my favorite octopus and I usually like to high end dine. It’s never fishy and always grilled to perfection. The chicken souvlaki platter IS a must their meat is always fresh and the lemon potatoes soft and dripping in a lemon sauce. If you’ve never gone to Avli. Run. Don’t walk!

I will admit, the food is generally very good. The severs are nice - if they show up - don't let them put you in a back corner because they will truly just forget your existence. Then someone from the staff will notice you from way across the restaurant & realize, oops, we forgot someone.Do I sound ticked off? Yes. Yes I am.Why put people in a corner just to forget them? Not sure I'll be returning, but if I do, I I'll make sure no one is putting this babe in the corner.

Love ordering from here! And tip your counter staff ;)Vegetarian options: Lemon potatoes are not vegetarian, if you get the veggie moussaka make sure you switch the side order!
