Lunch today at Bread Alone was a disappointment. I was ignored at the register until I asked "Where do I place an order?" three times. Placed the order for 1 Breakfast Burrito, 1 Smoked Salmon Bagel, 1 Cappuccino & 1 Coffee for $31.00. My Smoked Salmon Bagel was mostly cream cheese, w/ a single slice of cucumber and 2 very small, very thinly cut slices of Smoked Salmon - mostly a bagel and cream cheese for $15. My husband's Breakfast Burrito was mostly black beans & a bit of avocado - he couldn't taste any egg, cheese, sour cream or salsa and said the burrito itself was a tasteless mush. Coffees were fine. The restaurant wasn't clean. A customer allowed her two small children to run around the restaurant screaming and getting underfoot - that is when we left, although if I had not grabbed one of my elderly companions, she would have been knocked over by one of the small children allowed to race around the space. One would think management would have stopped this behavior. We will think twice before eating here again, if ever.

Based on this experience, I highly DO NOT recommend this Bread Alone.Yesterday, I purchased a slice of the LEMON POPPYSEED POUND CAKE. Unfortunately I didn't inspect it until I got home, a 20 minute drive. I immediately noticed that it was stale. I did not need to take a bite: it was obvious simply by handling it, something the clerk should have noticed when they bagged it.It was the last slice, which should have set off warning bells. As a business selling food products, they should factor in the cost of waste/spoilage into the price (they are very pricey to boot) and toss old food instead of foisting it on unsuspecting customers. My opinion of this establishment is that apparently they are okay with selling old, stale products. I highly recommend you save your hard earned money and shop somewhere else.

Decent bakery but nothing special. Looks better than it tastes. The bread is good but the sandwiches and pastries are fairly bland. I don't usually hesitate to pay high prices at bakeries, but to be honest, this place would never hold its own against similarly priced bakeries on the West Coast. The canele tasted alright but easily at the bottom of my list compared to others I've eaten. I don't think they'd survive long in Portland or San Francisco. For a small town it's a good addition though.

Super tasty coffees, teas and baked goods. But needs a system to help with the chaos of competing with families letting their kids run wild and trying to find a seat.

A nice cafe in a charming town. We arrived at the beginning of December for the beginning of winter celebrations. We enjoyed delicious cakes and good coffee. I will come here again next year.

What an awesome bakery and coffee shop. All of their breads and pastries are five star quality. Their bagels are as good as any I've ever had. My only concern, they ran out of take out "shmear".

Wow... 20 out of 10. Beautiful place ... clean and modern So many pastries and fresh bread to take home. Staff are so friendly. Right now I am eating a Golden beet bagel and I am going to take one of the salmon bagels home for my husband. I am loving this beet bagel.. What a flavor combination. Coffee is also out of this world... Best of all they allow dogs inside the place with no questions or problems. I'm in Rhinebeck all the time and I never come here. I've really been missing out. Can't wait to come back with my fur baby.

Quality sandwiches, excellent bread. Seat yourself in this casual, order at the counter cafe. A little pricey, but what isn't these days? A solid choice in a charming village.
