Yes this place is not for a normie, go to Rolo's, this is a rare Eastern European cafe, bar from Ridgewood neighborhood type of joint. The kitchen is out of this world, too meaty, too carby, and the freshest Middle Eastern type salad. Pull the correct metal door to enter... enjoy.
The staff is superbly qualified and genuinely personable. I have had cortados here at least 15 times from four different baristas and each time it was letter perfect. I even learned the trick of having them add the sugar to the cup before they pulled the shot here. My only wish is that they used a slightly darker roast of coffee. They use a slightly darker than full city roast not the old school espresso roast, aka Italian roast. Will anyone in Manhattan ever break away from this trend? For craft and personal service you cannot do better in Manhattan.
