I love the fried chicken on Wednesdays and the baked on Saturday! The homemade macaroni salad is delicious and I really am not a fan of that side dish. Empanadas are freshly made to order which really is great and the guava pastries are wonderful. Friendly atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

Georgie's Cuban sandwiches have ruined all other Cuban sandwiches for me. So juicy and tasty. You will need multiple napkins. They come in two sizes, small and large. The small is a lot of food, but sometimes I get ambitious and order a large and then I can't finish it. I also tried a chicken empanada on my last visit. Very simple filling but super tasty with a crispy shell and hot sauce for dipping - definitely worth getting. The decor in this place is wild, and the bathroom is an EXPERIENCE, but the place is cozy and clean, and Georgie himself will probably take your order and bring your food. Cash only and there's an ATM right on site. One of my favorite places to eat in Rochester and I make an effort to stop here as often as I can when I'm in town.

Truly the Best Cuban in the Roc, a top contender for the North East. Had a small plate of pork, rice and Mac salad 12/10. Pork was super flavorful and reminded me of home cooking. The Mac Salad was a sleeper, the perfect rations of Mayo,Noodles,Onion and spices. Don't miss this hole in the wall.

The cuban sandwich is definitely worth all the hype. The large is a foot long and could easily be split between two people.

Georgie's Bakery and Cafe is known for many good things. Great pastries, of course... so nice that you have to be an early bird to get your hands on one. But as you read the (many) five-star reviews, you'll note that Georgie's Cuban is the talk of the town. Now, I'm not a purist when it comes to "Cuban" sandwiches. I've enjoyed quite a few and every restaurant has its take on the fabled sandwich. Georgie's Bakery and Cafe has taken liberties here and there. First, this is not a pressed sandwich. Georgie's is a bakery (of course) and the roll they use is baked on-premise and extremely fresh. Eschewing the traditional ingredients of your stereotypical "Cuban" sandwich, the sandwich is more like a hot sub. Ham, turkey, lettuce, onions, a mayonnaise "sauce" and onions are what I think is the standard complement. I order mine mit out onions and am always satisfied with the result. I've had the distinct pleasure of introducing several friends to Georgie's and I suspect they will return the favor and turn their friends onto this scrumptious Cuban-esque sandwich!

The empanadas are simply the best I have ever had. Get extra sauce. Trust me on this.

As we ventured off to get my nails done for my friends wedding, we saw a sign that said Cuban sandwiches. But the name was a bakery. Odd. We were starving as I was looking up food options during my pedicure. Bf decided to get food and satisfied his food craving. They are a sweet couple. Family owned for years. Everything homemade in this tiny shop. Sadly they won't be here for long since their grand kids only come here for food and have no interest in continuing their legacy. I highly recommend the mouth watering savory cuban sandwich before they close. They are only open until late afternoon since they start food preparation at 4am. Luckily they can survive on serving breakfast and lunch. Besides the great conversation and food, I'm not sure if this is a hip and popping area that people would notice this shop but it's definitely worth the stop!

From time to time work brings me into Rochester. During a trip my co-worker brought me to Georgie’s for an amazing Cubano w/chicharrones. I enjoyed the food and chats with Georgie. Stand-up guy with an amazing café. So glad to see him and his family putting amazing food out after all of these years. You will not be disappointed!
