If your like me and need a coffee fix more often than most you have to go to Javas!!! Located right in the heart of ROC off East Ave near Eastman theater is Java's Cafe. It's very cute and eclectic inside. You'll feel like your in a little coffee shop in NYC! Staff are nice and fellow patrons are super friendly. They have desserts and yummy sandwiches too- if coffee is not your thing. But trust me- one cafe here and you'll be hooked!!! Enjoy!!!

Rochester could do with about 10 more of this place. Once you find it, those other coffe shops wont see you again. Java's hs two doors and two areas: One is a sandwhich bar which often has a long queue for the local students from the Music Academy, you can always get a Gluten Free soup there which is what I go in for. The other area is a classic coffee and pastry counter. My only gripe with this place (and trust me, the place is great) is a lack of GF cakes. Get those in there and I can stay longer. There is a pool table downstairs and good art on the walls if you like your art funky.Visited February 2024

Awful customer service and flooded dirty bathroom down a questionable flight of stairs. The baristas treat you like you're a nuisance and ignore you when you come to the counter if you need something after you order, like look you straight in the eye and continue what they're doing and ignore you. Later when I brought my dishes up to drop at the counter I asked if I should put them there and the male barista with glasses flatly said "yeah" and looked annoyed that I interrupted their conversation between another barista. Unprofesh. Also, the Turkish coffee turned to choking sludge within 10 minutes which means she did it entirely wrong. The pear almond pie was dry. The decor is a conflated pretentious mess, trying too hard to look trendy- more on the trashy side.

I love the smaller coffee shops, supporting local businesses.Plenty of space to hang out, drink ,eat, play around on your computer, etc.Great experience.

A staple in the Rochester community. Full of art, good music and a welcoming environment.

Every coffeeshop I go to, I compare to this place, because it's just that good. And after two years of traveling through Northeastern USA and parts of Europe, I can confidently say no other place compares. The coffee is AMAZING, the espresso is just the right balance of sweet and bitter. I have not tried many of their non-espresso drinks but their Turmeric Golden Latte and Aztec Mocha are pretty good. Baristas are super sweet. THE SANDWHICHES. ARE SO GOOD. But they only have them 11-3 from Monday-Saturday and tend to run out! The spinach feta/leek parmesan croissant pastries are also excellent. As for the vibes, it's a bit chaotic, but in the best way. I love to come here and study as well as catch up with a friend. Not that many places where you can do both! If you are anywhere near Rochester, come to this Javas location, it does not disappoint.

It’s super noisy and crowded in here. The bathroom is also located in the basement, which is only accessible through a narrow and unstable staircase.

Always my to go place in downtown! Love the atmosphere, staff are very friendly. Excellent choice of coffee. One thing I suggest is to clean the place better! Basement is too dirty!

I wanted to come and enjoy coffee for a school meeting, and had classmates driving in from Buffalo. They are currently closed for renovations (February 2024) and according to google they are still open. We are very disappointed that there isn't any indication that they are closed until you find parking and walk over. Someone who works there was behind the window see a group of people confused, and still didn't come out to explain what's happening or when they are expected to re-open. I am servery disappointed with Java Cafe.

Health inspector shut them down, right after spot got shut down right down the st and they still didn't clean up there act. Used to live this place, I recommend numerous times. I don't think I'll be back after reading what I did.
