I feel as though I was punked ! How is it that a restaurant with a 4.7 rating can serve such shockingly bad food. I ordered the beet salad which was a lot of jarred beets on a couple of over-dressed lettuce leaves with two triangles of hard cheese- no dressing, acidity, herbs or flavor on the beets at all- and how do you even eat mushy beets with a chunk of hard cheese? The pasta dish- advertised on the menu as pappardelle with house made sausage and eggplant, was over-cooked, tasteless and no eggplant in sight- even after adding graded cheese, then cracked pepper (the pepper grinder was simply dropped off at our table- so strange), then salt- none of which helped. The dish arrived cold even though our reservation was for 6 pm before the restaurant became busy (the excuse given). Although the servers were friendly, they were not attentive, it took a long time for our food to come, no one checked back after the food was delivered, and even after the owner finally stopped by and we communicated our displeasure, it took over 15 minutes for our plates to be removed. In the end we were not charged for the dishes- but that’s not the point. I just don’t understand the rating of 4.7 and feel I can no longer trust ratings- incredibly disappointed!

Lucano is truly a gem in Rochester, there is nowhere else like it! The service is so warm and friendly and of course the food incredible. They always have a great list of rotating specials, I highly recommend trying the frito misto and barramundi specials if they’re available!

Delicious. Again today I read the menu and ordered one of the specials. They truly are special. The waiter was great. He knew when we were kidding around a bit and when were serious. He had good suggestions. The food is outstanding. There is enough space that you do not hear the conversation next to you. And it is quiet enough that it is easy to hold a conversation. The wall paintings are really interesting. I'm not sure how to describe them but the best I can do is old world walls with simple paintings. They aren't stone, but the 3-D paint job makes them look that way. They must have someone touch them up regularly because they haven't changed but always look good. We have always had very good service and excellent food. We are slightly concerned that they weren't busier this evening and hope more people find out about them.

We had a really nice meal here (as is always expected). The gnocchi was the perfect texture and the cream sauce was light and so flavorful. Would always recommend this restaurant for a nice evening with family or reuniting with friends. Also the seafood selections are unbelievable.

Wonderful food and atmosphere but the service was not up to par for a restaurant of this kind.

My husband and I went last night based on the great reviews. We ordered a cocktail each, two entrees and one dessert to share. The price was $112. I knew going in that Lucanos is upscale dining, but I was still pretty surprised by how much it cost. I understand that the food is high quality and there are many factors that determine the price of food and drinks. I am by no means bashing the restaurant. We enjoyed the meal but as it didn’t blow us away and the price point is out of our reach, I don’t think we will be back. If you don’t mind spending $65+ per person then maybe this is the place for you. Lastly, we thought it was extremely loud in the room we were seated in and it made it hard to talk. And our reservation was at 8pm so I can only imagine it was even noisier around 6:30.

The main waiter that helped us was absolutely amazing from the way she greeted us to seeing us out I didn’t pull the rest of my bill up out of the folder so I added the total up myself and I came up short and left she didn’t yell or run after me she walked to the bus stop where I was and politely told us I didn’t pay $8 on a $89 bill I politely paid and she said thank you and have a nice day and they didn’t call the cops and I give a special thank you to that good woman for making sure no unnecessary steps where taken and everything was handled properly

What a little gem this restaurant is! Great food (authentic Italian) and fabulous service. A special shout-out to Christina who helped me make arrangements for a party of 16 and who served us efficiently and so pleasantly. Will definitely be back!

The restaurant was clean and water glasses were kept filled - that is the good part. The bad part, veal was tough, gnocchi tasted like they were store bought frozen ones, sauce tasted like it was poured out of a can with no flavor other than tomato. Our waiter was so,so, did not seem interested in waiting on small party but I understand everyone is out for the money, but the waitress who was taking care of the large loud party they sat us next to, kept our water glasses filled and wrapped up the lousy tasting gnocchi that i tossed out and it was overpriced. Not impressed.
