They would've received five stars if not for the disappointing ordering experience that I just had. I have long loved their chowders - best in town, by far - and have never had an issue with ordering those either in person or online. Today, I was craving fried fish, and was excited to try their cod. Unfortunately, it was beyond subpar - I have had better experiences at fast food chains. The batter smelled very obviously like stale oil, which surely should have been fresh by suppertime, and was floppy and limp, rather than crispy, as it should have been. What a letdown, especially for what they charge!

Love going to Bigelows i’m sitting at the bar the experience is great watching the staff freshly batter seafood and putting it right in the fryer right in front of you. The New England clam chowder is like no other. It is very delicious and creamy the perfect consistency for clam chowder. Definitely the best around the Ipswich fried clams are my go to favorite. They are fried to perfection and very clean oil which makes the food very good because the oil is always clean that they cook in. The people that work at Bigelow’s are great. Always welcoming and fun to hang out with by the bar while you eat your delicious seafood, no matter what you get I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area and you love seafood, you will not get any fresher!! Always leave happy and full from delicious FRESH seafood!!! 10/10

The food, the place the staff all get 5 stars. Got the clam chowder and a fish sandwich. Best chowder , it's been a while. The fish sandwich was perfect.

Had this on my to hit list for a while and decided to bring my family of 9 to try this place. Not sure why the high rating reviews but every single person on our table ordered a different entree. It all tasted the same...no flavor and all fried. Seems they don't change the recipe from dish to dish...clams taste the same as the flounder. Luckily there was an abundance of tatter sauce and ketchup that was provided for our tables for our food to taste like something. The crab cake sandwhich was okay. I really wanted to like this place but we all left not satisfied.
