“Omg one of the best customer service experience I have ever experienced in a HAITIAN restaurant. USUALLY I don’t like going into haitian stores because of the rudeness , but not this place, I was greeted by pops who took my order and he was just a breath of fresh air ,and amazing , great conversation , I would have ended up buying everything there if I stayed any longer lol ..he wanted me to taste everything .. from KREMAS to a taste of his macaroni .. he wanted me to try everything lol ? .. I Bought some patties and a fish lunch special .. it’s an amazing thing to have a lunch special and still get great quality food .. small fish for 20 dollars was a really good price came with rice and plantain. I love the little piece of lemon they had with my fish , it says they pay attention to little details, even with a lunch special.. my patties were properly coded since I bought a variety of different kinds. “I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! “If it's one thing I appreciate from this place is the portions. Now a days it's hard to find good homemade type food for a decent price. But at Uncle Don's they don't skimp out. I love the sweet plantains. Rice and peas was a bit dry but the flavor is still there. Jerk chicken has flavor without overpowering everything else. The Spicy Beef Patty uff.. my favorite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great establishment for this community. It brings good & delicious carribean food to this part of Long Island. I highly recommend this spot“

“The staff and owners were friendly and engaging and happy to help us decide what to order. We were treated like family even though we were visiting for the first time.I had the whole snapper with creole sauce and black rice and my wife had the chicken with creole sauce and yellow rice with peas. Starting with a huge fresh salad that we shared and ending with a complimentary slice or two of traditional cake, every part of the meal was a delicious treat.The whole red snapper was cooked to perfection with herbs and thinly sliced peppers and onions and floating in a plateful of rich, fragrant sauce. The rice was piled high on its own plate and served with fried plantains. It was all accompanied by a small side bowl of spicy-hot relish made with pickled cabbage and scotch bonnet peppers. The chicken my wife had was tender and juicy and served with the same creole sauce.The food was absolutely delicious and what made it more special was the obvious care and love that went into the preparation and welcoming way that it was served. When people really care about their food and share it genuinely and generously, it draws you in and brings real happiness.Thanks so much for a perfect meal!“

“The trick with this place is you have to catch them around lunch time when that jerk chicken comes right off the grill and ask for the extra sauces on the side to take this experience to the ultimate level yummy! Also just a heads up they make great soups as well I've tried the chicken soup and others as well great on a cold day to help warm you up on the insides! Last but not least the jerk pork is where it's at as a nice side to your Oder to add a little more flavor and variety to your dish enjoy!“

They don't get big lines here but that's because most of the people that shop here are Caribbean and they make their own food at home.For people like me this place is phenomenal. Average price from most Jamaican spots. They ran out of plantains and they replaced it with Mac n cheese and then covered it with ox tail gravy... Need I say more?“

“Please don't judge a book by its cover. Upon entry, we were greeted by a sweet young lady who seated us. Not even 5 minutes later, we were offered lemon drops. The brunch was reasonably priced and quite delicious along with my own personal carafe (straw included). The staff was attentive to my allergies (strawberries are the devil) and kindly catered to my ailment lol. There was a DJ and hookah on deck, so the ambiance was just right. “First time experience at Blue Island. We were a group of 5 and we all had a fantastic time! We love Caribbean cuisine and it was a nice bonus that we could enjoy Caribbean food in an elevated atmosphere, meaning this is a waterfront location so there is seating overlooking the water and the area is very live! This makes the property very unique as there are not many Caribbean restaurants in the area with a full on sit down dining experience and none that I know of overlooking the water. There is also inside dining which is where we sat with our group because the place was already packed by early evening. We were hoping to get seating outside but overall, had a nice dinner inside where there was a pianist that night, (intimate lo key, relaxing setting inside, and full on PARTY atmosphere outside, with great music!!!) the blue rum punch is everything! Will definitely return and arrive earlier for seating outside. hope in the future as they grow, they will extend the menu.“

“ordered off uber eats, got the oxtail egg rolls and rice and peas. egg rolls were amazing, tender oxtail and lots of it. also came with maduros/sweet plantain which were delicious if you like them soft. rice and peas were very bland, they gave me a whole lot for $5 so i assume they wanted to get rid of it. the peas were undercooked/powdery and overall just needed some salt. amazing otherwise don’t let the fake negative reviews steer you away“
