My husband and I went in last night for a drink. Two employees walked past us, asked if we only wanted drinks, and walked away. We saw 5 different employees standing around just talking. We waited a few minutes, maybe 7?, and then my husband walked up to one employee and asked why we were being ignored. We were told we had to wait for the bar tender, and no one knew where she was nor had any idea when she was coming back. The staff there is HORRIBLE, RUDE, AND IGNORANT. By the way, we happened to be the only people of color in the building that were customers. Do I think this was racially motivated? No. I believe it was just a bunch of young ladies not wanting to do their jobs. We left after being ignored for over 10 minutes and went to a friendlier bar around the corner.

I was about to visit Zen tonight since I've not been there in a while and remembered my last experience I had a few months ago when I read the reviews of others. I remember why I haven't been back, the service is exceptionally bad I mean, really bad. My party of just 2 didnt get our drinks until after we got our dinner. My dinner was supposed to come with soup that I never got. The person who took our order wasn't the same person that brought our food so I didn't bother asking about the soup but asked if we may please have our drinks? It wasn't even that busy. It used to be really good, all of it, so we try to go back and have a worse experience than the time before each time. I may try again in the future but looking at my past experience and the reviews I'm not optimistic my visit will worth it and clearly ownership doe not care.

Best sushi I've ever had in my life, hands down. The fish is fresh and prepared with passion, which is apparent when you watch the chef prepare the food. Lauren was our server and she was an absolute pleasure. I look forward to coming back again soon!

Great sushi. Super fresh, and served at perfect temperature. You have to wait a little bit because there's only one sushi chef. Hes killer though. Bartenders and waitresses all polite and very nice. Cool bar area. Food from the kitchen smelled and looked divine.

Ask multiple times to have a table, called ahead, no table. Even when the place is empty, it takes 20 minutes to be seated with a menu, ridiculous an poor service all around. Sushi is still top notch though. I stopped coming year 7 years ago because of the shifty service, great to see nothing has changed in that aspect.Kid-friendliness: This is more of an adult dining establishment without proper service.

It’s our third time eating at Zen, and it’s just as amazing as the first two times! Started out with the Seaweed Salad and Harumaki. Delicious and fresh! Shared with my hubby, the Salt and Pepper Shrimp entree and the Assemblyman Roll. Also, super delicious and fresh! I also recommend the Downtown Mojio!
Food is always great. However the last 2 visits there from myself and fiancé there didn't appear to be enough servers, waited a while for food. Especially the last visit in which we made a reservation this time, we waited 30 mins for drinks alone (asked for 1 cocktail beverage and a pepsi) and our appetizers took forever too. My fiancé kept noticing the bartender taking shots vs making drinks. Bathroom had no paper towels though. Our particular waitress second time around was not really attentive- she did not check on us, sesame seeds were on the food when we specifically asked for them not to be and she seemed bothered/overwhelmed as she had other tables and it was very busy in there. We had to ask another waitress about the status of our drinks and the Sushi Chef if he knew when our appetizers would be coming. Typically I've enjoyed Zen but they clearly need more help there.

Our food was delicious, our waitress was attentive and nice. We waited for 45 minutes for cocktails but our waitress handled it appropriately. No complaints there. The atmosphere however was awful. We made a reservation a week in advance but we were seated at a hi-top table next to the bar, right outside of the kitchen. It was very loud, you could feel them slamming the dishwasher through the wall and I was hit with the door to the kitchen at least ten times while I was eating. The bathroom had no toilet paper (like not even an empty roll… they were either broken or completely empty) and no paper towels (I even opened it to see if it was jammed…no roll, no anything…empty).The customers at the bar and the bartender were dropping F-bombs loudly every few minutes. If this were a bar that would be fine…but it’s not. There was no visible restaurant manager on the floor to help the very overwhelmed staff. The issue with the restaurant does not appear to be staff…management appears to be nonexistent. This place has potential, but they are missing the mark…we will not be back… but my gut tells me they will be closed soon anyway.
