Classic diner, big menu, lots of seating. But kind of underwhelming. The service is awful. Have been multiple times and it is always soo slow and have to ask for refills on coffee. Their lasagna is amazing but other than that I would choose to go somewhere else especially if you’re on a time crunch. Takes forever to get your food. Plus the waiters are not even that good. Food is okay, service could use improvement.

Waited almost 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and get us a drink. Then waited over 45 minutes for our food. When we get our food everything was cold. Mind you during the wait the server didn’t check in on is not even once! …. Pathetic maybe they just didn’t like people with a bit of color on their skin!

The food is acceptable. Asparagus was over cooked and the salmon was dried out. Rest of the meals were fine. A good stop, just not great.

The atmosphere is so calming and welcoming ♡ the service was beyond amazing and the food was so delicious, cheap , filling. I do not eat left overs but I tell you what I will be eating my quesadilla for the next few days even my picky friend loved every little bit of her Philly steak . ♡

Whoever said "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day" is a kindred spirit of mine. As such, a classic diner is somewhere you may find me on a random weekend morning. Recently I had the chance to check out the Castlewood Café, situated not far from Utica University. Upon entering, you'll realize it's not going to win any style points. The interior is a bit dated, though not in the charming 50's diner sort of way. However, seating was plentiful, and seeing many of the tables with patrons was a good sign. I ordered the classic "Queen's Breakfast" - 2 eggs any style, hash browns, toast, a sausage patty, and 2 bacon slices. This is a pretty classic order for me and a good way for me to decide if it was worth the drive. We wanted to try a grilled blueberry muffin, but they had run out. My counterpart ordered the fruit crepes - a bit too much sweet for me in the morning, but they were very happy with their choice. The food arrived fairly quickly, a bit of a surprise with the crowd they had on hand. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the rye toast was great, and the breakfast meats were on point. The only disappointment was the hash browns. They were cooked very well, a bit crispy on the outside, soft in the inside, but were lacking in much flavor. Our server was attentive, though busy, and seemed a bit flustered at times. Overall no issue with the service we received though. I'd be more than happy to recommend the Castlewood for those looking for some good breakfast comfort food.

I have been to this restaurant just about a 100 times, if not more. I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. The service is a 10/10, always attentive and respectful towards you. No matter what time of day it is, the people are always very accommodating. I have never had a bad meal here, the food is always good. The atmosphere here is very welcoming, and overall a great place to enjoy a meal. If you're close by, I definitely recommend that you try it out. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Ordered 2 patty melts after asking what the open face was. We were told by one of the waitresses to order regular patty melt. When it was brought to our table it was open face with 2 slices of toasted rye and onions. I asked if it was supposed to have cheese as the ones I’ve had before were grilled rye with melted cheese. Our waitress (her first night)took them back to the kitchen where I assume the cook put a slice of cheese on each of them. Not melted or grilled just sort of warm. It was going to be a nice dinner with our grandson. He had a fish sandwich and it was fine but for us was very disappointing.

I’ve been taking my daughters to gymnastics next to Castlewood Cafe for a few months now. I figured I’d give it a try because there were a lot of items on the menu that I like. We ordered Vodka Riggies, mashed potatoes, a quesadilla and French onion soup. Everything was very delicious! It is now my favorite place to eat out! So glad I found it!
