Had a couple great experiences! We have been going to them for years, we started going there when they were at their last location. I'm not going to say we don't make our own from time to time but they are definitely our favorite place to get an amazing cake! I have no stake in the place but I can guarantee you will not be disappointed, how moist they are and the fact they hold their moisture is phenomenal. Lastly the flavor all the way through! We called a couple of times in a pinch and they accommodated very well, thank you Desserts Beyond The Ordinary I will return for more cake!

Expect to receive friendly, excellent customer service and quality products. What a gem to have in the N. Utica area!

I don't get it. I order a cake for my aunt's birthday. She's a baker and I know I can't get nothing less than a cake with real ingredients made locally. I can say the cake itself was moist and delicious. I can't comment if it was a mix or not. I've heard that mixes do make superiorly fluffy and moist cakes, unless the baker is well-trained. I digress. When I ordered I asked for whipped cream frosting, the woman behind the counter stated that they had a BUTTERCREAM frosting but couldn't do a whipped cream. I asked if it was real sweet because my family just isn't into super sweet frostings. She said no. She also stated they couldn't do a stabilized whipped cream frosting (come on, it's so easy). I come back on the pickup day and there is BETTERCREME frosting on it, you know the same frosting used by Price Chopper who will make custom cakes for 1/2 the price, not Buttercream (which we would have accepted, but side-eye'd. Why would I go to a bakery located next door to a grocery store that sells essentially the same frosting on cake for 1/2 the price. Nope, I was seriously disappointed. I gave them 3 stars (ok) versus 4 (good) or 5(great) because they did fix the frosting. But quite frankly, there are too many good bakeries where I'd go and not have cake drama. For other's information these are the ingredients of Vanilla (artificially flavored) Bettercreme from Rich's USA website: HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WATER, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (PALM, PALM KERNEL, COCONUT AND/OR COTTONSEED), CORN SYRUP, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF THE FOLLOWING: SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE), SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, POLYSORBATE 60, CARBOHYDRATE GUM, SUGAR, SALT, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, POLYGLYCEROL ESTERS OF FATTY ACIDS, TO PRESERVE FRESHNESS (POTASSIUM SORBATE), XANTHAN GUM. Mmmmmmm. you too can be preserved from the inside out with a frosting that contains less than 2% of a milk derivative. If you are buying a cake at a bakery, you deserve a cake with frosting that at least doesn't have HFCS or water as the first and second ingredients. While we can say the cake itself was tasty, the frosting saga was a turn off. We also had a few pastries, meh. Again- if you are near there and craving a sweet otherwise, there are better bakeries in CNY.

Trash place! Don’t waste your time & money here. Take your business somewhere that they will DO GOOD WORK.1.) Communication was trash, was only sent 1 text message 2 months before the job & the only other time was the day of payment.2.) Spent $50 extra dollars on the cake to make it look better for my parents vow renewal (3rd photo with candles)3.) Owner refused to give a full refund & with us paying $50 extra. The refund ended up essentially being $25 what a joke.Couldn't even get a cake stand!Would have gotten a better looking cake at Wegmans for a quarter of the price I paid.?️?️
We stopped in to grab some desserts and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. I've been to my fair share of dessert shops and this one is now the top of my list. The pastries we got were delicious and a step above the others in the area I highly recommend you try it!

Great place the staff is amazing they have an amazing picture on the wall of the bakery. All the baked goods are delicious all the cakes are as affordable as they are tasty. The peanut butter pusties are a religious experience! Can’t recommend it enough

Stay away- the white t-shirt of cakes. Trailer park pastries. It's the 'orange juice after brushing your teeth' of bakeries. Service is lame; cakes are lame. Try the other guys and save yourself the trouble.
