The owners and workers are SO NICE. But the menu is only one thing: carbs, carbs and carbs. No salad, not even whole fruit or fruit salad. It looks like food from the 1970s. Americans don't eat that anymore. They need to update their menu and look at what other similar cafés offer in Astoria for example. Across the street Aubergine Cafe is ALWAYS packed and can't keep up with customers I mean seriously the high demand is there and Talavera is not taking advantage of it, if they're revamp this place a bit they could EASILY steal half the customers of Aubergine Cafe.

Be careful with this place. They have been overcharging customers, especially customers who are mentally challenged.Be careful with this place. They have been overcharging customers, especially customers with mental problems.

Don't waste your money like we did. I wanted to like this place because we don't have a good bakery in the neighborhood but after three strikes, we won't be going back. We ordered a slice of tres leches, Oreo cake and a brownie. Someone needs to explain to them what tres leches is because this was nowhere near it. It was over cooked sponge cake (think an actual kitchen sponge) with buttercream and apricots. The Oreo cake was stale with hard cream like it should have been tossed three days before. The brownie was not a brownie, it was stale overcooked brown colored cake with corn syrup icing instead of chocolate. It was so bad I actually spit it out into my napkin. After one bite, we threw all three into the garbage. Had we eaten in, I would have demanded a refund.

I asked for a tres Leche cake and even shown the lady what I wanted and she gave me this nasty non-tasting peach cake instead. Never again I’m going here very disappointed.

Chicken Quesadilla was really flavorful! The tortilla seemed freshly made and the Pico on the side with the fresh avocado slices were delicious too!!! Woman behind the bar was very friendly. I ordered take out.

They have on the menu, chicken stew, and I get pork chop instead, the rice looks like rice pudding, and not flavor. Never again ever ? I waisted my money, $14.00 .

We have given this restaurant multiple chances, hoping for the best today as they are under new management. The food is plain and not very flavorful. Steak breakfast burrito is good sized but no flavor, no salt or pepper on the meat, eggs, or potatoes. Pancakes were dry and chewy because they dont include syrup, just pour a little on the top. Ham and cheese croissant contained almost no ham or cheese, dry, and was flat like a dinner plate. Sausage, Egg and Cheese i ordered with mayonnaise and hot sauce, but recieved day old slice of tomato, with no mayo or hot sauce, and the eggs were dry with no seasoning. I try to support local businesses but $40 for a bad breakfast is not worth it to me. I hope the kitchen learns how to season their food and cook with passion and flavor in the future. Best of luck to this business

Disgusting and unsanitary serviceUnfortunately, one tries not to be biased but some folks try the hardest to live up to the stereotype of the dirty Hispanic from the countryside.I go into the premises, looks very humble and the pastries look bellow standards. There's a Latina woman sweeping the floor who despite seeing me entering the premises, continues cleaning without saying a word. I did not mind it as I understand they're about to close and need to be done with the cleaning. After some minutes, I greet her and she finally "realizes" I am inside the store. I'm forgetting to mention, she had already finished sweeping but did NOT wash her hands, so when she is about to handle the bag for the pastries, I ask her if she is going to wash her hands before handling the pastries. This was our dialogue:Me: "Won't you wash your hands beforehand?"Her: "(With an attitude) no, I will use gloves"Me: "Still you need to wash them before putting in gloves."Her: "(Goes to the back, I hear the water running for 5 seconds) comes back with a bigger attitude. Anything else you want from me?"Me: "So, was telling you to wash your hands wrong?"Her: "I already washed my hands."Me: "For 5 seconds and possible not even used soap."Her: "even more upset. What do you want??? You complain about me not washing my hands but who knows what you may have eaten somewhere else?"Me: "Is that how you talk to customers? Don't worry, I won't take anything."All that time, I remained calm despite her attitude and nerve to even feel bothered by asking her what she was supposed to do.

Underrated and under appreciated. Everything is made in house. Breakfast burrito is tasty and huge!

I lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and this was my go-to spot for breakfast or lunch. I specially liked their Coffee ring, which I’ll buy to share with family with a cup of coffee or a cup of milk (the way I like it). The other staple for me was their chicken burrito because it was quick and tasty. The staff were always attentive and friendly, and also spoke Spanish, which I appreciated. I never had to wait too long for my food or to be attended.

ENGLISH: This place is full of COCKROACHES everywhere, including the kitchen and the cabinets where they keep the desserts and I know it because I know girls who worked there; the food is NEVER fresh, don't trust them, they wait until everything is finished to bake new desserts, even if MONTHS go by; the workers grab the food without gloves and with dirty hands and clean everything with the same dirty rag. I don't know why this place is still open if it doesn't follow ANY OF THE HYGIENE AND SAFETY MEASURES that an establishment should have. Disgusting! Don't go there if you don't want to get sick! ¡Asco! ¡no vayan si no quieren enfermarse!

Took forever for a breakfast order, and then when I get home with my bag realize that instead of the Bacon egg and cheese on a roll that I ordered and "PAID" for I had a buttered bagel... Oh also ordered home fries, instead open up package and realized it's just plain french fries... Warning to everyone, check what they give you before you leave the store.
