Good NY style pizza. I was a little shocked at the $5/ slice price but they were large slices.

One of the best lunch spots in Athens! I have never even tried the pizza because the Beef Buns & Sandwiches are top tier. And it’s all solar-powered - WIN!Parking: Great parking & near the bike path.
Amazing pizza. I don't even know what else to say.

Avalanche has some of the best pizza in Ohio. Very convenient of the West side of town. Some pizza slices and salads ready at all times, they also cook to order.

Love grabbing a slice here. Some reviews complain about a $5 slice of pizza bigger than the plate its served on and they're just wrong. It's good stuff.

Avalanche Pizza's outpost on the West Side of Athens. A great place to stop and get a New York style slice, Italian Beef Bun (highly recommended), or choose from several other delicious sandwiches or salads.Oh, and don't forget to grab a tiramisu out of the case to take to go. It's the best this side of Chicago...

I’ve had pizza from here before, didn’t like it but gave Avalanche another try. Their pizzas suffer from soggy crusts. There is an option now to order it well done, which I did. The result was a greasy, undercooked and soggy pizza. The toppings are good though. Got somewhere else

My pizza slices tasted okay, but I noticed it was pretty greasy, the outer crust very hard, and the bottom had a lot of black like it was burned. I love bread and crust, but this was so hard and tough it was almost impossible to eat. In fact I didn't eat it, so that was a waste. I don't understand all the good reviews because I rarely see anyone eating here. Every time I drive by it is pretty much dead. I was hungry for pizza and thought this would be a good choice. Unfortunately it was a bit of a let down.

So yeah after reading through some reviews I said " heck maybe they had a bad experience "... so I stopped by today for 2 slices. One veggie and other with mushrooms and something else... as stated the Pizza is chewy.. definitely not worth $5 a slice!

I’ve given this place probably 20 visits since it opened. Hoping each time that maybe there is just some kinks to work out and it will improve. It hasn’t. The pizza is 9 out of 10 times positively ancient when it comes out the warmer, so hard to chew that my jaw pops while chewing. They also skimp on toppings and think it’s appropriate to serve hastily and badly prepared slices full of bubbles and lacking cheese (see photo). I’ve twice bought sandwiches where in the display they looked like they were full of meat but only had the tiniest strip of meat along the edge you could see. They charge 5 dollars for a slice, albeit a big one. But that’s a lot of money for a NY style slice so the quality and freshness needs to match. I really WANTED to like this place but I’ll no longer be going, it took me too long to learn my lesson.
