Looking for a hometown type of place for late lunch during a visit to Ohio University. Good fried chicken ? and excellent walk up service. The seating area is limited but clean and pleasant. Picture of the original family home and business site on the wall. Close to campus.

What they are known for is their fried chicken and it doesn't disappoint. I recommend the macaroni or potato salad as a side. I had mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese and it definitely left something to be desired so when I go back it's out of the question for me. With that being said they get 5 stars in my opinion for the quality of their chicken, friendly service, and atmosphere (hidden hole in the wall). We will most definitely go back and I will post pictures.

I've had their chicken before with mixed results bit last night was the best it's ever been. I got a 10 piece. They were out of thighs so I subbed legs. Whatever they did, I hope they keep it up.

This is an Athen's institution. I was a local resident (a townie) my family loved coming here. Back then it was really good chicken at an excellent price. The quality has come down some, the prices have went up (of course they did, inflation). However I paid 10 bucks for 2 pieces of blackberry pie. One for my daughter and one for me. Not a single blackberry was found in either slice. It was all "thickening" as my mother would say and crust. Inflation or not if you are selling blackberry pie, it should contain blackberries. We receive thickened juice and crust.
Great for breakfast and of course their famous chicken!

I go here when I want to treat myself. Hands down the best macaroni salad of all time and it’s not up for debate. I take it to family gatherings and pretend I made it. I’d eat anything they pull out of that fryer without hesitation.
