My family and I have been loyal patrons of Trotters ever since the Brown's era, when it rivaled high-end establishments like Morton's or Smith & Wollensky in Chicago. My brother would even make the drive from Indianapolis just for a meal here, underscoring our deep-rooted appreciation for what Trotters once was. Sadly, under its third change of ownership, the restaurant has strayed far from its former glory. The previous owners seemingly lacked an understanding of Trotters' storied past and the culinary excellence it was known for. This disconnect is now painfully evident. The iconic "Brown Jug" steak, once a buttery-soft marvel, has deteriorated significantly in quality. Gone are the days when the steak was free of gristle and fat—hallmarks of the Brown's tenure. Even the second owner maintained the quality of beef, but alas, that standard has not been upheld. Now, it appears we're served inferior cuts, lukewarm and drowning in what barely passes for gravy. The second owner couldn't get the thin sauce or the sizzling skillet. The sauce now is absolutely disgusting. Moreover, the current management has decided to overhaul the classic bar area, a move I find completely misguided. The charm of Trotters was its timeless ambiance, something that should be refreshed, not reinvented. The staff continues to be wonderful, but their efforts are overshadowed by missteps such as the lengthy ordeal to replace a simple soda cartridge—something the apparent owner struggled with throughout our visit. In summary, this once-great pillar of culinary excellence has lost its way. The "Brown Jug" steak, a legendary dish that defined Trotters, is now just a shadow of its former self. Perhaps, in time, I might consider stepping in to restore its legacy, but for now, it seems the spirit of what made Trotters a beacon of fine dining has been all but extinguished.I explore the new owner to find the original experience. Including a nice piece of chocolate on your payment tray. It's now a store purchased Andes mint.It would seem they're more interested in making changes in the wrong area of the once amazing dining experience.

Well, the salads were good. For everything else, the adjective used in the menu was lost in the kitchen. Front of house staff are helpful and cheerful. Brown jug was underwhelming.

The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great. Quiet, and a real tavern ambience. Now, the food. My wife and I ordered the $30 steaks, salad and fries. The salad was very good. The fries, well, to say the least, cold and soggy. She ordered medium rare and got it medium well, dry tough and tasteless. A "9-10 oz" steak was actually around 6, and that's generous. I ordered mine extra rare and got it that way, but it was tough enough to use as shoe leather. I was looking forward to a good meal, and was very, very disappointed. I will not darken the doors of Trotters again. I would not recommend spending hard earned cash at Trotters. And the reason we did not sent the steaks back is due to the fact it took 45 minutes to get the food. We did not want to spend another 45 minutes waiting just to be disappointed.

This is one of our fav BG spots. Everytime we have been here, our food has been amazingly delicious and service great! It may take a little longer to get your food, so just sit back and relax! We recommend little or big brown jug, salmon and Mac & cheese (worth the extra $2!!!)

Hubby had French Dip and was awesome. I had Rueben and it was very salty and way to much sauerkraut. Had to take half of it off. Then the bread was burnt. Biting into the sandwich it scratched the roof of my mouth.

Couldn’t pick “zero stars”- I went here because I was working out of town, but make no mistake. It will not happen again. I heard the steak was good, and I get my steak well done and you can make a really good well-done steak. Well, let me tell you, for $40 I got absolute garbage. From what little of the steak I could actually eat towards the center it was excellent, The sauce was good, the sides were good, but the steak was garbage. The kitchen manager told me that’s just a well-done steak and that’s how their steak is, I informed him that I have had better cooked steaks out outback or Longhorn….. I could actually teach any bum off the street to make a good well done steak better than what I had the misfortune of ingesting tonight. I don’t like being this type of customer, but as far as I am concerned, don’t waste your money.Oh it also literally took an hour to get the steaks. Super let down .

The food is a lot better than we thought it would be. I ordered a simple grilled chicken sandwich and it was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time. The service is quick and the workers are friendly. We came during a slow part of the day and it took less then 20 to be seated, get drinks, put in our order and get out food. Wonderful.
