Terrible! We never got to enjoy the restaurant. We showed up for our OT reservation and were SHOCKED to find out they were permanently CLOSED! Me and my party (friends) were left scrambling to find another place to have dinner in downtown during happy hour on a beautiful day. It was an interesting experience.

Everything was fine. The restaurant has a comfortable ambiance and a neighborhood feel. The bbq was good. Just don't eat in the bar if you want speedy service or to hear yourself think.

My daughter and I had a light dinner before a concert in Columbus. We shared the chicken flatbread and each had a side salad. Both were delicious. Our server was Sky and she was attentive and very nice but not intrusive. We were seated in a quiet area and could chat and enjoy our time together.

The staff here is always friendly and accommodating. They make you feel at home. The manager remembered me even though it's been several months since my last visit. Food - I've not had a bad dish here ever. The kitchen staff is really on top of their quality control. Ribs, burnt ends, brisket, fish - it's all been great. As for drinks, I like to support our local breweries. Barrel and Boar makes that easy by having a decent selection of local beers on tap, in addition to other options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Short answer: Why aren't you here yet?

I loved the atmosphere and our waitress was energetic and helpful. The food and drinks where the problem. The Smoked Old Fashioned had no hint of smoke and was so watered down that it did not even taste like alcohol let alone an old fashioned. Aside from the cornbread muffin appetizer the food was very dry and had to be smothered in BBQ sauce. Bread on both sandwiches was stale. The butter was amazing though. I may give it a second try, but my first impression was not a great one.

Emily was our waitress and she was great. Our order came out quickly, hot and fresh. Barrel & Boar has the best ribs hands down. Price wise we had 1 appetizer, 1 full rack of ribs with one extra side, brownie dessert (which was AMAZING) and 2 beers and it was $97.

Loved the environment of the cozy restaurant. Good service, good food, happy to easily get to downtown Canal from Bexley. No fuss, no crowds. Met up with friends from Canal Winchester. Love Bartel & Boar menu! Great Sangria!!

The food and service was excellent. We had a 69th birthday get together and Kim was right there to attend to our every need/want. She and the manager came out to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl, with us. We even had the table of about 15 next to us singing too. We will definitely be back, would absolutely recommend as the food was delish.

The service and food were both very good. We appreciated not having tvs everywhere. We were able to have a nice conversation the entire evening. The prices were a little higher than expected, but the food was very good.

Barrel and Boar is a great place that I enjoy taking friends to. The wait staff is always amazing and the beer selection is not extensive but it is very well rounded. Usually the food is incredible. This last visit though, the burnt ends were a bit tough. Maybe it was a new person at the smoker? Being the first time that the Burnt Ends came out like this, I'll give it another chance. The other menu offerings are still very good. Can't think of anything else I've had here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

No ma'am, no sir. The waiter seemed strange, had a very upbeat intro and the moment we said we weren't doing alcoholic beverages, his mood changed - I thought that was strange, he almost seemed mad at us. I ordered the brisket BLT and the bacon was just a slab of fat and the brisket looked like cardboard. I regret not ordering that drink

From the front of the house welcome to our seating, the start of the experience was warm, welcoming & relaxed. Our server, Jackie, was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our party of 4 enjoyed 4 different meals and each item was delicious, hot and served beautifully. The bread for the yummy brisket BLT was so good! The burnt end was juicy & tender, the mahi po boy was succulent and the buffalo burger was flavorful and juice. We will definitely be back!

I ordered the brunch quesadilla- it was not good. Soggy tortilla, very little egg or salsa as advertised. The only thing edible was the chicken. The cinnamon French toast at our table lacked cinnamon flavor. The corn muffins were dry. The other two entrees were lackluster also. The smoked meats were good but the dishes as a whole were disappointing. We have had great meals here in the past but this was our first (and last) brunch.

They were out of my selected entre, but the waitress was apologetic and very nice. Would like to see more vegetarian options on the menu, but the food I had was very good. This is one of the few non- fast food restaurants in Canal Winchester. Gad it's there.

Second time visiting this bbq joint. Very good first time but just so so today for lunch. My wife and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and was disappointed in that it was served room temperature at best, the "crispy onions"were cold and chewy and the potato bun fell apart at first bite. Taste was good after pulling onions off the sandwich however. Cole slaw as a side was outstanding. City Barbecue is where we will go for pulled pork when the urge strikes.
