The owner is super nice. The produce is fresh & the food is flavorful. We got the spring rolls, all fresh produce, shrimp & marinated pork. We also got the sandwich with a 1/2 lb. of marinated beef for only $9! And the beef wasn’t some cheap, chewy steak. It was marinated, moist & not dry! The rice bowl (we got pork) was so good! The jasmine rice is perfect & fresh. I’m not sure how he turns a profit, the prices are too low in my opinion; with quality & quantity he could get a higher price. We will be returning again, this place is a hidden gem.

One of the best kept secrets in Dayton. When the word gets out, look out! Excellent Pho to rival Lihn's Bistro. Delicious and fresh ingredients. Don't let the location or facade fool you. Excellent tea as well. And the price is beyond reasonable.

It is a hole in the wall kind of a place. Located in a small strip shopping center across from the Save a Lot. Outside is not very exciting. The inside also lacks some decor. But their food doesn't. It is very flavorful and traditional. I had the traditional rice bowl. Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, jasmine rice,, fried egg, beef and red pepper flakes. Notice I pointed out the red pepper flakes. Because if you don't like spicy foods. You will need to know this is not a good choice. I will come back.

I liked the beef pho. Tender and broth was good with the hoisin. Amount was plentiful was very full. Wish they offered Thai ice tea. Need to try to vermicelli next

Holy moly Fourth of July exploding in my mouth! I ordered the vermicelli noodle salad with chicken. What arrived was a veritable piece of culinary art. This salad is a standard in Vietnamese cuisine and is particularly delicious enjoyed in hot summer months. Vistro's version exceeds all expectations. The mastery of this dish is the blend of crunchy romaine, carrots, bean sprouts and cucumber. Soft elements of the silky vermicelli noodles is sublime. Hidden pops of cilantro and mint delight the palate. The additions that make Vistro's dish unique is the addition of mango ( yes it works) and avocado. Wow wow wow.

One of the best bowls of Pho I've had in a long time--delicious find and we are lucky to have this in Dayton!

A recent addition to Dayton's excellent dining scene, the Vistro is another food-truck operation that's added a brick-and-mortar home, where a more ambitious menu and more hours are possible. It's located, perhaps ironically, in a little east-side strip mall in a storefront that, in the 1990s, housed The Viet, a place that had its own remarkably good food and low prices. The Vistro's owners have enhanced the decor somewhat from the dive-bar atmosphere that the Viet displayed--and the menu is also distinguished by some difference. I arrived on a Tuesday at suppertime and was the only occupant in the 40-seat dining room. I tried to order a hot Vietnamese egg coffee but learned it's no longer offered, not enough customers wanted it. I hope these were not harbingers of slow business! So I settled for a cup of hot green tea and soon was enjoying my appetizer, shrimp summer rolls. I'm accustomed to these rolls containing rice, perhaps a little veggies, and three medium shrimp showing through the rice wrapper--but these were distinguished by some wilted Romaine and three enticing cucumber slices peeking through the wrapper. The cool, crisp cuke was a remarkable idea, and when the spicy soy dipping sauce was deployed the dish sang lustily! Their list of entrees includes several varieties of soup including Pho, some rice and noodle bowls, and Vietnamese stew--I opted for the lemongrass and ginger rice bowl. You get to choose your protein, I got beef which held up well against the spicy sauce. The plate is good looking with a mound of jasmine rice topped by stir-fried red pappers and carrots, the beef, and some flat leaf parsley. The ginger dominates and the dish was just as spicy as I can bear, but all the flavors shone through. As is my custom when reviewing local places, I checked their health inspections. While not perfect, the flaws were few and typical of new restaurants--the tone of the reviews reassures me that there are no serious issues. I can't assess the service since there were no other diners competing for attention. Dayton, this is good food at good prices--let's fill up this dining room on a regular basis!
