Great, local fare with an elevated homemade feel. Unique dishes that make you feel like you're getting something you can't get anywhere else. I had the Eggplant Fries which were deliciously crisp, albeit a little salty. The yogurt sauce and marinara helped cut the saltiness though. I also had the Green Lasagna with added chicken Italian sausage, spinach, and mushrooms which was rich in flavor but light overall. The mushrooms added on were plentiful, which almost detracted from the balance of the dish - but that's on me! Overall I will certainly recommend Wheat Penny to my friends and colleagues and will be back to visit next time I'm in Dayton!

I’m Impressed, the food was Top Notch, Delicious. This will be one of are favorites to go to! The food is Uniquely made high quality, most delicious food I’ve had & the drinks were excellently also unique delicious! The only thing was it took 20 min to be served by a waiter, but once we said something we were immediately served with efficiency & kindness! We will back for more, thank you!

My steak was sub par and not cooked properly. It also had no seasoning. My steak also didn't have mushroom rub on it.

Food was good and so too were the prices. Service was also good. The restaurant was not crowded but due to the open floorplan, it was noisy.

Pizza was decent, they were out of the peer I wanted but that was no big deal. I just feel like the cost I'd a little higher than the overall

Indulge in the delectable dishes at Wheat Penny Oven and Bar, where every bite is a delight. Amidst the savory aromas and bustling ambiance, let's keep an eye out for Mitchell Shields, a 17-year-old who went missing on March 13th. If you have any information, please visit the AmigosForKids website. Together, we can bring Mitchell back home safely. I believe he is waiting to be found and that with your help, he will be.

Opted for a light meal at Wheat Penny today, and it certainly lived up to expectations! ?️ We began with the Eggplant Fries, which were delightfully light and crispy. Between the marinara and yogurt sauces, the marinara stood out as the superior choice with its robust and rich taste, though my wife liked to mix them. I'd recommend sticking with the marinara for its hearty flavor ?The cocktails were perfect for an afternoon sip. The smoked Old Fashioned, dubbed Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em, was a hit. With Buffalo Trace as the base, the bartender achieved a fantastic balance ?For the main course, I chose the lunch combination of pizza and salad, while my wife went for pizza and soup. The Mr. White pizza was wonderfully simple yet satisfying. The arugula salad paired with cauliflower slices was a hit. My wife's Italian sausage with braised mushrooms pizza was also impressive, but the standout was definitely the soup. The White Bean and Kale soup was exceptionally tasty, a must-have for our next visit ???The experience was rounded off with reasonable prices, outstanding customer service, a welcoming staff, and a great vibe. Looking forward to returning and trying the sea bass for dinner in the near future! #WheatPenny #FoodieHeaven #DayDrinking

The food was really good, but in my opinion way over priced. $53 steak was on the menu. My $20 burger, was not all that big, maybe 1/4 lb. However it was very yummy. It came with 4 or 5 giant steak fries. There was somethjng in the menu for everyone. The service was top notch, and the atmosphere was wonderful for the most part. Definately worth a stop. A great place to eat. If it was cheaper, again in my opinion, would be a great repeat place.Either way, try it arleast once. Its wonderful. Just bring your bank account.

Not sure what happened to this place as the reviews are glowing. Perhaps they are older reviews. But I can tell you that this place has gone severely down hill.We were in town for a bowling tournament from Youngstown and this place came up as a top 10 restaurant in Dayton. So we booked it. Arrival was fine and the front sat us quickly. So far as good. Unfortunately, that was the best part of the meal. The table was not cleaned before we sat down. The service was horrible. It took about 10 minutes to get someone to our table. The person left with our drink order and he came back about 10 minutes later. We ordered salad / pizza / parm sandwich and wife wanted the chicken spinach ravioli which he asked small (3 pieces) or large (6 pieces). She ordered the large. My salad was dropped off about 10 minutes later and there was no silverware on the table at all so I just sat there at waited for him to come back before I could eat it.Finally, after about 10 more minutes we asked for silverware and napkins which he apologized for not having that on the table. He brought over silverware immediately. The food came out about 10 minutes after that. The salad was decent. My pizza was dry with very little sauce but the meatballs were good. The chicken parm sandwich was burned and hardly any sauce on the sandwich. It was very dry. The $30 ravioli had only 5 ravioli’s and they were not stuffed. They had very little or anything in them and they were flat. The overall cost and service and food were all way below average. I am not sure how this place got such great reviews but it is NOT very good. They need to fix the kitchen and train their staff better. We would definitely not be back.

Really let down by this place, especially because I had high hopes for it based off of the numerous reviews raving about the food and service. Our server was inattentive despite us being one of three occupied tables in the entire restaraunt. The food was pretty tasteless, mushy, and not very pretty to look at. The green beans with anchovy mayo were absolutely drenched in oil, the polenta and meatballs was the consistency of soggy porridge, and the Siciliano pizza was a weird combination of toppings that made the pizza the biggest let down of the meal.As someone that frequents various Dayton restaurants, this is one I certainly won't be back to. I should also mention that the price of our meal was outrageous given the poor quality.Really disappointed.

This is my favorite restaurant in Dayton! Great vegetarian/vegan options. The Kale 2.0 salad is the most perfectly curated salad ever.

Was told over the phone they didn’t take reservations. They put us on a waitlist with an approximate time of 45 mins. After an hour, we were seated at a high top which would have been perfectly fine, except for the uneven ground that the chairs were on and the heat blasting down on our heads. When we asked if we could move to the low 4 top seating next to us, we were told there was a reservation for it, which obviously made us more frustrated. We left after no accommodation was made feeling like we wasted half of the night. Service at the table was no issue.
