I've been her twice. The food is very much "home" cook. The cod. grits, simple salad, breakfast is amazingly delicious. This place is a hidden gem in Lorain. I will definitely make this my go-to place when I dont feel like cooking and I want a home cook meal.

Why anyone would want to spend time at this restaurant is beyond me. As soon as my wife and I walked into this joint, we heard the waitress moaning and groaning about her job. I'm not sure why since all but one table in the place was occupied and only one customer was waiting on a take-out. We took a seat at a booth and each of us almost fell in-between the springs of an obviously century old seat. The waitress had that type of voice that carried from one end of the restaurant to the other. She welcomed us and asked if we would like some coffee. Nice enough, but then she disappeared for what seemed like 15 minutes before finally getting our coffee to us. As we both were expecting, the coffee was awful, leaving a dirt taste in your mouth. We knew then it was going to be a long evening at George's. I ordered the veal cutlet with mashed potatoes, while my wife ordered the charbroiled mushroom steak. The meal included a roll & butter, a cup of their potato soup and a salad. She was prompt getting the salad out, even though a sudden phone call had her moaning, "I'm not getting it. I'm telling you, I'm not getting it. I have too much to do." Mind you, we were one of two couples inside the restaurant, so I'm not sure why she was feeling so overwhelmed. And I was busy eating a rotten salad which was filled with chopped up old ends of iceberg lettuce and a tomato that was hard enough to do damage if it would have been used as a projectile. Next up were our entrees. With hindsight, it would have been better to have left before we received our dinners. My pork cutlet was salty, burnt and mushy inside. The gravy was certainly from a jar and the mashed potatoes from a machine. My wife's charbroiled steak reminded me of the meat you eat from a frozen meal, the kind of meat where you wonder to yourself if it is actually from a cow or not. Just two awful, disgusting meals. We then realized that we hadn't received our roll & butter or soup and even if those were lousy too, I was still hungry and needed substance. When my wife told her we were supposed to have soup with our dinner, she looked at us as if we were crazy and said, "Oh, you wanted the soup? I mean, you never said anything. Most people think it's too thick anyway, but if you want, I can get you two soups to go." I just looked at my wife and shook my head. "No, that's okay, we're fine." She walked away letting the whole restaurant know how bad the soup was and that most people wanted it off the menu anyway. This gal beat everything and she wasn't done. When she took the bill and my card to ring up the sale, she asked If I wanted to add a tip, but before I could answer she basically yelled out, "Say $5, you think?" (By the way, I hate when restaurants ask you for the tip amount, instead of allowing you to add the tip yourself). I just agreed to her amount and we both got up and basically ran out of the restaurant knowing we would never be back. If I could give these folks at George's Family Kitchen a -100 review, I'd give them a -1000 review! Maybe they have a good breakfast there, but I can tell you my wife and I will never return to find out the truth of that statement.

My fiancé had the meat lovers omelet and he said it was delicious! I had the eggs over easy with the hash browns. The food came out pretty quick and it was hot. Great place to go when you are hungry.

Food was nice and hot.Service person was nice all but no efforts for giving refills.Iced tea was nothing but ice in a small glass. Three swigs and it was gone. For $2.32?!Things have gotten real skimpy since I was there last. Disappointing.
