Food is the best in GOTL. Price is a little high and portions are a little small but overall I would go back.

For the price we paid, the food did not live up to the price. $4 for a glass of Diet Coke. We sprung for $18 Brie topped with honey and almonds and served with apple slices and toasted bread (instead of a $7 half-loaf of bread). $21 for a Caesar Salad with grilled chicken (overcooked). $31 for one piece of Parmesan crusted walleye, a small side of mashed potatoes and steamed vegetable medley. The bill after tax and tip was near-$100 and I’ve had much better meals elsewhere for that price. The views of the lake are fine, our server was very good and probably a high point of our meal, and most of the food was tasty but the price tag was the hardest pert of our meal to swallow.

Been here twice now, the only two times I have gone up to stay at Geneva on the Lake. Food is alright, steaks were tender and cooked well, but lacked any real flavor, I salted everything just to get some taste. I wouldn't even mark down for this if it wasn't for the extreme price points. With such hefty price tags it should've been better. You even pay extra for bread service. Also we got the creme brulee and it was liquid. Tasty, but liquid.
Excellent duck haven't had it like in years! Perfect little place more expensive food.

I had the braised pork shank and it was cooked perfectly. This was a beautiful little restaurant and I will be back if we are ever in the area again.

My girlfriend and I waited 15 mins at the door waiting on anyone to even say anything to us, as all the workers just stared. The hostess was not there but her vape and cigarettes were laid out on the desk. The bartender finally came over and said someone will be right with you. Mind you it’s already been 15 mins. Another 5 minutes went by, as we’re still being looked at by ALL the servers. I finally went to the bar and asked the bartender how much longer do I need to wait. She got mad at me for asking and said if you don’t have a reservation we have to wait because they are full. They had 5 tables open at this time. As I said you have plenty of tables open she told me good night sir! By far the worst service possible and the worst bartender I’ve ever encountered.

First time there, food was great, service was great, very nice atmosphere. Only draw back was that our table was next to the kitchen, a little noisy, asked to move to one of the few empty tables, and they would not accommodate.Vegetarian options: There were pasta dishes on the menu.
Mmmm not good. My best guess here is there are 3 things; not much competition (very few sit down restaurants in town….look for yourself, maybe 1 or 2 others), the view is pretty, and most guests were couples- more focused on each other vs a below average restaurant. The food is quite poor and service about the same. The appetizer was described as “shrimp with fancy bacon” - actually was 90% garlic broth (not mentioned), a few barely cooked small floating shrimp and a handful of tiny pieces of tasteless “something” - the ham I guess. Nothing like described, no good flavors, just POW garlic w broth and floating…stuff. We mentioned it but nothing was done. The (we think) snap peas were grey - you know the kind, at one time green but came out just like canned and wayyyyy overcooked w no flavor. Mashed potatoes were so watery. The duck was OK - no flavor but not as lousy as the rest. A standard brandied cherry sauce was the only flavor I recall. The steak was also so bad. A poor cut of meat to start and sirloin is tricky….and dry and flavorless when overcooked this way. Came with a peppercorn season but the cut and preparation were obviously not on the mark. The server - never want to be too harsh, she seemed nice - just not trained and doing her best. We’ll never return. They are really trying to be something they just aren’t. There are some other restaurants outside of town - try those maybe if you want something this style.? Hope this is helpful.

Been many times! However this visit 4 out of 5 of us disappointed in our meals and 2 of us received cocktails that were nothing like what was on the menu. Our server, on the other hand was energetic, witty and accommodating!

SO DISAPPOINTING! We have enjoyed great meals here in the past but it’s obvious something changed. The only thing going for this restaurant now is the view if you’re lucky enough to sit by a window. Service and food were sub par and very very overpriced. We were served our wine when we were almost done with dinner. Waitress was flighty and just complained about the bartender when we complained about the lateness of the wine. Our salads and bread were delicious, then it went down hill. My ragu was over cooked. My husbands dried tomato pasta was bland. We will not return.

Fantastic and unique menu, superb and professional staff, and whether you dine inside and out you’ll have a great experience. They use local produce and meat too! A true gem for our area- and the best of view of Lake Erie!
