Is this place for sale or for lease what's going on with it I've been trying to get food from there for a minute now and it just says temporarily closed I've sent several messages with no response I'm still going to give you a five star because you just did nothing wrong so if somebody could just even post a message is it permanently closed is it for sale is it for lease what's going on with it so they Community knows we supported you while you were open now support us while you're closed

Amazing food! The shrimp and grits was savory and flavorful! The rice and beans, candied yams and collard greens were dynamite. However, the star of the show was the fried catfish! Holy cow. Thinly breaded, ZERO GREASE, flaky and mild. My 1.5 year old even scarfed down a few pieces! Can't wait to go back!! The location was clean and service was fast and friendly!

I think it’s a shame that I wasn’t given a receipt. It was emailed to me and once I got home and looked at it I was charged a different price for my food than what was on the menu. I even tip the waitress $10 I called ahead of time to make sure that me and my family could eat there because we live a hour and a half away after we get it to order they told me because I wanted to family meal that I had to take it with me and I was wondering where were we going to take it but then when we were about to leave, they told us that we could eat it there, but then charge us different prices than what I made you say it for all of our food I thought that was a shame, the food itself was OK but I felt like I was a bother to be there in their lobby. I am not going back.

I ordered the shrimp and grits.. awful ! Not to mention I was the only customer waiting ,then they didn't have enough for change so I tell them to keep the five dollars. Someone who works there came back in with enough for the register still didn't give change not to mention food was nasty ? sorry but I had to say something

Ordered a pickup off of doordash. Received a text stating my order was ready. I was picking up my order while on lunch. When I arrived, the door was locked so I waited in my car. He finally came to open the door for another customer. When I went in, I immediately gave him my name of the order. He then goes and get MY FOOD THAT I PAID FOR and told me to show him a text that he sent me to say MY FOOD was ready. I pulled up the text with the time attached and said You sent it 14 minutes ago. He then states that he did not he sent it five minutes. I had to show him again. Which o should not have to show him a text ON KY PHONE when I already had given him my name. What difference does it make for FOOD THAT I PAID FOR. His whole demeanor was uncalled for and was not business like. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. IF YOU CANNOT WORK PROPERLY AND PROFESSIONALLY WITH THE PUBLIC, FIND ANOTHER JOB

Food was decent, I did not get my order since the restaurant ran out of pasta.. I was not told until they brought my spouse’s food. Meanwhile the people who came in after me were able to get their pasta. Did not get our sweet tea we ordered.

First off, I didn't like that I called the restaurant to place my order & they don't take phone orders. Secondly, the fried wings I ordered were under seasoned, the mac & cheese looked & tasted weird. The fried cabbage was good but they messed up my order because I ordered extra wings & instead, they gave me extra cabbage & mac & cheese, as if that was going to make up for it. Smh!

Food is amazing! I had the soul bowl and my husband had the catfish. We both loved the meals. Cornbread is also on point. First time trying, we will definitely be back again and often :)

I have been going to Southern Cafe for years. Before the pandemic and now. I use to dine in but the inconsistency of the temperature makes it uncomfortable to sit down and enjoy the experience. In the winter time it is freezing inside and in the summer time its hotter inside then outside. The issue I have is the consistency of not having certain items and the lack of communication. For example I ordered a 2pc catfish dinner and my sides are always Mac & Cheese and Collard greens...Either out of catfish or collard greens and no communication prior if sold out. Yesterday 2/25/23 I ordered online for a 2 meal (2 pcs catfish dinner) sides : Mac & Cheese and Collards greens, Soul rolls and 2 pieces of chicken thighs with tip it was over $60. I get there in 28 minutes as mentioned on ready time. When I got in only waited an additional 5 mins or so which was great and I did not mind to only see I have 2 out of 4 things I ordered. Prior to checking my order I had spoke to the server and informed her if the soul rolls were in this order and she did not know that I ordered it and went to the back to check. In the meantime I checked my order to see I was given cabbage instead of collard greens. When she came back she provided my order of soul rolls and my 2 pieces of chicken thigh which was also forgotten I had told her my order is incorrect and I had ordered collard greens. She said they were out and she "tried" to call me. I received no call, no text, no email. I said may I please have an extra side of Mac as we do not eat cabbage. She said yes let me inform the cook. She then came back took my food and removed the cabbage and replaced it with Mac. I was glad of the replacement but shocked on taking the cabbage back after I already opened and checked my food. My questions are: Why is there so muchinconsistency? Why not provide a to go container on the Mac instead of taking the containers back and reusing the cabbage after a customer touched the containers? Why is the server not double/triple checking to go orders? Why not inform the customer ahead of time when an item is out of stock? If a confirmation via text is valid then it should be kept and honored. I could understand if its extremely busy but when I got there only 1 table was there placing an order, a door dash employee and myself. No excuses when this has been going on for a very long time. After yesterday I will no longer come back nor recommend. The city of Lakewood should check the temperature conditions as well as that is ridiculous for customers and employees

I ordered a fried chicken dinner . I received 3 chicken wings . I paid extra for white meat . I presumed that meant chicken breast . I don’t eat wings .. however , the fries were definitely hand cut and delicious. And the Mac and cheese also delicious. Just wasn’t expecting wings
