This was a restaurant I have wanted to try for some time. I was meeting friends there for dinner. When we arrived we couldn't find it and later heard it was closed. Before we got there, Google said it was open and gave the hours of service. I was very disappointed.

Our drinks were delicious. We tried catfish, tots, jambalaya, ribs, and shrimp. Everything was amazing. Great flavor, just right amount of spicy, good amount of food. The atmosphere is cozy and really unique. We’ll be back again many times more!

I had an incredible experience at Backwater Voodoo, and I can't praise it enough! This place deserves a solid five-star review for its food, service, and atmosphere. The food was absolutely mouthwatering. Every dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The menu had a perfect balance of traditional and unique items that catered to a variety of tastes. I couldn't get enough of their delectable offerings, and I can't wait to go back for more. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic experience. It's clear that they take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. As for the atmosphere, it was a true gem. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with just the right touch of voodoo-themed decor mixed with vintage Tiki to add a unique and enchanting vibe. Whether you're looking for a relaxed evening or a lively night out, Backwater Voodoo has you covered. In summary, if you're searching for a spot that excels in food, service, and atmosphere, Backwater Voodoo is the place to be. The staff was fantastic, bartenders on point. The drinks are weird, wild and delicious. The food was incredible. We have been there 4 times in as many months, never disappointed. We try a different signature drink each time. Love the atmosphere.

Our 1st 2 visits the food here was so spectacular but what happen last night makes me think they lost their chef. Always a fun atmosphere but the dirty rice was such a disappointment and it was my favorite, the slaw was terrible and the catfish not even close to previous preparations. Not excited about going back. Please bring back your chefParking: Street

The theme is unmatched here and I respect that! It's very kitschy, but they play well to their Tiki-esque Cajun-esque theme in the decor and menu. Their drink menu is large and ornate, but fun. I felt their menu looked good at first glance but the food portions are smaller than their prices would make you assume, especially for the quality of the food. I would definitely return for the drink menu!

We love Backwater Voodoo. We have been here before and just last month spent our anniversary dinner at Watermark. Chef Maria is knowledgeable about dietary concerns and the food is always excellent and the staff is attentive. We will be back and always support local restaurants!Dietary restrictions: Extensive gluten free menu and the chef is knowledgeable about this.

The tiki drinks and atmosphere were fine, our server was really nice and doing her best but seemed a little overwhelmed even though it really wasn’t very busy, maybe she wasn’t getting enough support? I would highly recommend the spam slider appetizer, which although overpriced were very good. The main problem my wife and I had was with the food, I had the crawfish étouffée which was not what it claims to be, just a plate of large chunks of celery, chewy crawfish and literally no sauce, ate a few bites and was done. My wife had the creole catfish which was ok, her issue was with the bones in the fish and the dirty rice just not tasting right, almost like it was spoiled? I’m not gonna recommend anyone avoids this place I would just say go for a few drinks, maybe an app or two and not eat the meals. They may just need some help in the kitchen and I hope they get it cause we need more places like this in the area.

We had a blast at Backwater Voodoo! Good Tiki Culture! Here I am with the “Cauldron of Doom!” Ask about the secret society and the secret menu. You may have to pay a price…Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free. They know how to do this.

Summary:Don't go here if the manager is having a bad day. He'll project his poor judgement, profile, and subject you to embarrassment as he takes your ID from your hand just because he had a one-off encounter with a homeless person that tried to come in before me. In all honesty I did look like a mess and distraught but that's bc I had a very close loved one in the hospital who was dying of heart failure, so I cried in my car before going inside.***I knew about the homeless person incident because my partner saw it happen before I got there on August 18th between 7pm to 9pm.Full:I went inside with only planning on grabbing a drink and taking it with me to find my partner who was actually in the back with his coworkers. The manager immediately honed in on me asking me repeatedly if I wanted to take a seat. As a woman I don't humor men that approach me at bars no matter who they are, even if they later*** introduced themselves as the manager. I guess because I said "No thanks", his feelings got hurt and demanded to see my ID even though I already had my wallet out with my fingers pulling my ID from it, handing the card to the bartender, which he hastily grabbed from my hand, ever so casually mentioning that he's the manager. But sadly for him, I was of age and not homeless so he allowed and directed me to the back where I could find the rest of the clientele. This was my second visit and I gotta say, shame on you for profiling people who are just minding their business.Of course I would be silly if I paid for a drink after being profiled by the manager. So I just left because why would I subject myself to that? I was just going out to relax after a stressful week.Do better and be kind to people.
