My family received terrible service while dining at this location. There was a misunderstanding about the ingredients of an item and due to it containing meat, one of my family members requested to send it back due to her being vegetarian. The food had just came out and had not been touched at all. The server (who was also disheveled in his appearance) said he could take it back but we would still have to pay for it. We asked why because the food hadn’t been touched and the disheveled server replied saying “this isn’t an American place it’s a small place” like his business isn’t in America anyways, and proceeded to not offer to remake it with different ingredients or offer a substitution. This was a lower than subpar experience. The server was grimy and sleazy and disheveled and most definitely should not have been handling food, or talking to customers. In addition when I went to pay for the food I didn’t receive a copy of my receipt and there was no specific charges for anything just a total, so who knows what I actually paid for. Go figure the cashier was the same person who was serving us. What a rip off this place is!

These are absolutely without exception the best tacos you will find in the tristate area. The tortillas are handmade, the ingredients are flavorful, the cilantro was definitely fresh, and I will gladly take the drive back.

This restaurant doesn’t even deserve a 1 star. We got to the restaurant and it seemed pretty normal then we ordered drinks and food, our drinks came and we were chitchatting while waiting for enjoying our food but later and 1 hour passes no food and everybody around us was getting and eating there food and even already paying. All we ordered was 2 menudos a single taco for my niece, fried chicken and a caldo de pollo. My parents menudos came and the pollo frito did too, but we had to ask the person taking us our food for the taco and my caldo de pollo. The lady said oh i’ll bring the taco out but she proceeded to tell me that they didn’t make any caldo de pollo. So they literally made us wait for something that was never made and they didn’t even tell us when we were first ordering that they didn’t have any so i could order something else. Many men came in after us and got there food right away. The lady said that they order before they came in but she was most definitely lieing because we saw multiple people order there and get their food within five minutes. My dad said a couple things to the guy who checked us out and he said “i don’t care about you buying from us it gives us more money.” and multiple other things so i suggest you don’t eat here.

If I could go negative for a review I would. We went in the waitress got our drink order and food order then we waited for 56 minutes while others got their food that came in after us. Left without eating and paid $5 for 3 canned sodas. Ridiculous!!

I really like the lengua taco. I also got an Al pastor and a chorizo taco. I found the Al pastor and chorizo flavors to be a little dull. But the lengua taco was one of the best I've ever had.The salsas are good, hot enough for flavor without to much burn.I got an Al pastor torta, I was not impressed with the bread, it's not from a Mexican bakery, it from Walmart according to the person working there that day. I was told they use the buns from Walmart, because the patrons like it better than a traditional mexican bun because it doesn't fall apart. Overall, it was just ok.It's a nice, little place, a bit of a hole in the wall.I really liked the cooler of traditional Mexican drinks.

Love El Grillo. Lived in Mexico...Guadalajara...well-known for their pozole...and El Grillo's pozole is one of my all-time favorites. Great authentic food, and super friendly family and staff.

First come first serve seating, FYI. Staff is very quick to catch an attitude, and after waiting for 30 mins you receive your chips and salsa. Add another 25 before receiving your food. The food isn't hateful, menudo is a 7/10 and torta de milanesa a 6/10. WORTH the pickup given the rundown plaza it's located in. But definitely not worth tipping for.

Always a good meal, especially the Sapas. Their hours open is very limited and the last three times I have gone there, like 6pm on a Saturday, they have been closed . Hard to build a business being closed at peak meal times.

This place is in a run down shopping center but dont let that fool you. Everything was fantastic!! The employees were all very friendly and the food was authentic. I had the sopes and my husband had fried chicken, rice n beans. They serve the food with a homemade salsa verde and hot sauce which were tasty. The food was fresh and was served to the table quickly. We will definitely be back to try other items off the menu.

Great little place in a dump of a shopping center. Don't let the neglected area fool you, much of Middletown looks like this. For some reason, they don't know how to put ice in ice water, I had to ask about three times and I sill received less than a full ice cube. Maybe ice is in short supply this summer. The quesadillas were awesome, using homemade tortillas. The tacos were just okay, kind of uninspired. We ordered guacamole, and it was less than a spoonful. I've heard it's hit and miss, depending on who's working that day. Prices were great. After I left, I farted all over the shopping center.
