If you’re not Jewish they don’t want you there. Awful atmosphere with racist service - we left and enjoyed a $100+ dinner with a restaurant that doesn’t act like it’s 1950.

Burnt ends were very popular and delicious. Baked beans got a good review, too. Best Kosher restaurant in Cleveland area.Vegetarian options: Mushroom truffle flat bread, portobello burger and some sides. Fries use canola oil, BBQ sauce is veg.

Decided to stop in and treat a friend to lunch after shopping. Let me start off by saying I was really impressed by the decor as well as location. My friend and I came during lunch hour so we ate from the lunch menu. I wasn’t pleased with my food. I ordered the polish girl. I received a regular polish boy. It came out cold. My bread was soggy. I was missing my brisket as well. Being a Clevelander I have had many polish girls this wasn’t a favorite. My friend had a burger. The ingredients were quality but still lacking a bit in the flavor. For the price of the food I would expect more. We had mimosas and shots of Don Julio that was the best part of the meal. None of the owners even asked if we enjoyed our food. Very impersonal during the day.

I had dinner there last night.Clean, fun atmosphere with great music.EVERYTHING was delicious. Service was super.I highly recommend this place.Just note.... It's a Kosher Restaurant.... The price/portion pricing is unavoidably higher than a non-Kosher restaurant.....Simply a matter of the cost of the beef and chicken being higher because of the higher costs involved in producing Kosher meat.....

Excellent Kansas City BBQ.We were served by Jasmine, who provided quick and impeccable service. The bbq beans and pecan pie were on another level. There is comfortable table seating and a small, but well stocked bar. They seem to be really busy on the weekends, so I recommend making a reservation.

Worst chicken and waffles I have ever had, don’t waste your time. The bartender said we ordered the wrong item when we asked for a suggestion to begin with.

I have dined with all of the prominent Barbecue restaurants in the Greater Cleveland area and beyond. That being said this was almost as good as the chain City barbecue, difference being City barbecue has larger portions and doesn't charge exuberant prices. I personally ordered the "World Famous" burnt ends, they were more like cubed Angus beef roast pieces with little to no seasoning, the outside wasn't charred or burnt or seared ( hence why they are called burnt ends) they were mushy, fatty and flavorless ( Kansas city sauce is suppose to have a tang , this did not). Did i mention i only received 5 small pieces ( more like a 1/4 pound at best) , a "to go" ramekin of coleslaw, a small bowl of baked beans and 2 pickle chips and a smattering of pickle onions for $34.00? Needless to say arrive without an appetite and you may be satisfied. Others in our party ordered the Brisket and the smoked chicken sandwich. The Brisket entree resembled pot roast more than actual brisket, flavorless and dry with absolutely no smoke flavor at all ( they claim 10 hours of smoking), same small coleslaw and such at $34.00. The chicken sandwich arrived cold along with the frozen style sweet potato fries ( a better sandwich can be had for far less and a way larger portion next door at Midnight Owl. The Chicken sandwich ($22.00),( like all of the entrees) None of them had even a hint of smokey flavor, or any flavor at all. An old fashion cocktail was ordered, needless to say Outback steak house makes a better proper old fashion utilizing bourbon that isn't well grade. As far as wait staff and atmosphere.. We were seated, another party was seated right after us. That being said, the other party received drinks and water before we were even asked what we wanted to drink, we were barely checked in on by our waitress and basically sat waiting forever for any refills on water. I understand now that this restaurant basically caters to a specialized clientele, it would have been nice to have a heads up on this. The entire time we dined we were stared at by the other diners, it was very obvious and uncomfortable. In the end if you want real Barbecue go to Rib Cage, Mount Pleasant or the Proper Pig. The menu contains no pork items at all. I implore those that read this review to this point to look at the prices and judge for yourself. A salad at $30? I never give negative reviews, but in this instance i can't believe how bad the food, service, drinks and atmosphere are at this restaurant. I was hoping for an awesome Birthday dinner, instead i would have been better off going to Mcdonalds, really.

Walking into Mendel’s KC BBQ in Cleveland, it felt like hitting the jackpot for anyone who appreciates solid, delicious comfort food with a bit of a twist. Starting off with the Haitian Bouillon was like getting a warm hug from your grandma — a beef stew so rich and hearty, with potatoes, spinach, and dumplings that made you feel all cozy inside. Then, diving into the appetizers was like going on a mini flavor adventure. The Pico Fries? Unreal. Imagine your favorite fries getting a makeover with pico de gallo, smoked chicken, avocado, a bit of sriracha heat, and that killer garlic aioli. It’s like a party in your mouth where everyone’s invited and having a blast. Those Texas Hot Links were no joke either. Just the right amount of heat, packed into a beef sausage that snaps with each bite. It’s the kind of appetizer that makes you nod to yourself, thinking, "Yep, they got this right."And don’t get me started on the Chicken & Waffles. That combo of cornbread waffle with crispy southern fried chicken, all drizzled with honey chili syrup, was nothing short of genius. Sweet, spicy, crispy, soft — it’s got all the contrasts that make you wonder why you don’t eat like this all the time.Finishing with the Pulled Brisket Flatbread was like the grand finale of this culinary concert. Smoked brisket, tangy pickled onions, fresh arugula, and that garlic aioli tying it all together — it was a masterpiece of flavors and textures.Mendel’s KC BBQ isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to experience food that’s comforting, delicious, and straight-up fun.
