My grandmother had quite a hankering for good BBQ throughout the entire pandemic and once we were finally able to go out, we went out to Old Carolina BBQ. So glad we picked this place! The staff was quite hospitable and the manager even spoiled us with some free sides since they were slow that day. We got the “Ultimate Sampler” to split between the two of us and I’m glad we did! It had a little bit of everything and we had plenty to take home for a late night snack ? Thank you for a pleasant experience!

True Carolina barbecue as defined by the vinegary acidic spicy sauce. The tangy Piedmont sauce was mostly acidic with a bit of sweet. The sweet sauce burned my tongue. The golden sauce was basically yellow mustard. I got the ultimate sampler. The wings were sad and dry because they were smoked too much for the little meat they had. They were only able to be used as cat food. The brisket was dry except for a super fatty slice that was juicy. One banana pudding was good- with a pudding consistency and good banana flavor. The other one- the one pictured- was entirely different with minimal flavor except for a sort of sweet pseudo artificial banana like profile and the texture was entirely different like a hard gelatin cheesecake mousse sort of seal. It all glommed together and was bad. The ribs were thin and didn't have a bunch of meat on them. The meat was somewhat dry and not tender or easy to get off the bone without some pull. The hush puppies were long and cylindrical like mozzarella sticks but ended up being so dry they weren't edible to me even after I tried to dunk them in the honey butter that came with the meal. The macaroni and cheese was so foul tasting (worse than flavorless- it had a horrid fake plastic flavor similar to the macaroni from KFC) that I actually gagged and spit it back out! Go to Woodstock in Lakewood instead if you want good barbecue that isn't dry and tastes right.

This place was amazing! Normally when I get pulled pork it's super greasy but this one wasn't! The hush puppies were the best, and the wings were crispy and juicy! But I think our favorite part was the delicious banana pudding! JUST WOW. And don't forget the cheerwine! We will be coming back again and again!

We had the pulled pork and chicken tenders meal. My 2 sides were hushpuppies and macaroni and cheese, they also give you cornbread with cinnabutter. Everything was delicious! We got extra cornbread and baked beans. Definitely recommend if you haven't tried it. It will be a regular favorite of ours now.A nice change from fast food or takeout pizza.

Hey Guys, I do food reviews often and enjoy the passion of sharing experiences within the food industry. Your pulled pork sandwich has so much potential to be one of the best around for BBQ. The only thing is definitely need to improve the quality of the bun. The meat was so tender tasteful along with the BBQ sauce. The bun was below average, it was very small thin and not much to it. It seemed to match the quality of a multipack, cheap basic store bought found in grocery stores commonly for $1.99 per pack.
Went here to order food to go. Long wait for them not being busy and when we got home realized they left out our two sides. Also charged me for a full size salad when I only ordered a side salad. Food was good, service not so much.

Not bad. And different menu since the last time I was there. This time the brisket seemed different. I used to like it a lot. Huge sandwich for the money. But lacking in smoke and seasoning. Almost like it was a boiled corned beef. It was tender, not over done, but just bland.GF had a bowl pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and onions. I thought it was good. I'll come back but idk about the brisket again.

Really liked the Calibash seafood special. Redfish, shrimp and hushpuppies with coleslaw and beans. I also had some PJ's Hot Chicken - really liked the spicy style, although they do have it less spicy too.
