“AMAZING food so authentic and delicious. The beautiful lil skinny Jamaican girl working the bar and behind the counter is so polite and friendly. The portions are great I had enough food to eat 2 meals out of this dinner special!!!! The goat was super authentic and amazing ???? it's hard to find places with chicken like this that is so tender and juicy it just falls off the bone. I come from Detroit to do business in Toledo and Everytime I'm done imma make sure to get me some of that real authentic Jamaican cuisine highly recommend!! Great prices great food great service atmosphere is perfect feels like you really in Jamaica with all the designs and decor I felt so comfortable as a complete stranger and first time customer..... love it!!!!!“
“First time there, everything was delicious! It tastes like homemade comfort food. The oxtail was so juicy and flavorful. Will definitely return to try every dish. When we were there, the other two diners told us they travel one hours to come to this place regularly because they love it so much!“
“Wow. Some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. It is the definition of a hole in the wall as it is literally inside of a gas station but do not let that deter you. The food is authentic, the service is authentic and they have so many options especially for vegans and vegetarians. I ate my food so fast and I'm usually a slow eater so that should tell you how good it was.“
“What's not to love. This food truck is a rare find in Toledo Ohio. The NOT Jamaican j*** chicken is named that because the chef is NOT Jamaican. This fusion of Guyanese and other West Indies flavours are ones you will be craving once you've had a taste.People always ask if it's spicy and I would say that it only will seem spicy if you can't even handle black pepper. In my opinion it's flavorful and mild in spiciness.Patties are homemade from the filling to the pastry that surrounds them. If you're wondering what a patty is, think of the shape of an empanada.I personally recommend the phoulorie dumplings if you like savory but if you want something that is more like a sweet bread, you can't go wrong with her Johnny cakes.Another recommendation is the soul mac n cheese or the fried chicken. I'm salivating just thinking of it right now!Everything on the menu is superb! If you're in a hurry (or just plain impatient) OR wanting to try this while you're on a short lunch break... This isn't the time to go visit. Island Soul tends to have a bit of a following and because everything is made to order, you will just end up getting agitated. Save this food truck for a time you can spare a few extra minutes to wait. You won't regret it!“
