I'm not gonna pretend I *KNOW* soul food. I never lived in the South, or anywhere that's known for their soul food offering. The only experience I have are from my L.A. days. You'll always come across those mom-n-pop grandma's recipe shops, and you'll also find a little better known places like Roscoe's Chicken. Between all of those experiences, I'll just say I have a little taste of what a good soul place should feel like and taste like. Went with a family on a Sunday, and the place was empty. You can definitely tell it's a family-run business by the way all of the staff talk to each other. Nicely put, very homey. Not-so-nicely put, very unprofessional. Again, depends on the person. I don't mind the homeyness of the place as long as they get their jobs done. In our experience though, it wasn't so. Ordering the food was actually plenty pleasing and even entertaining. Girl at the counter was very nice about explaining their menus and what to and not to get currently. I took their recommendations and went with a pig feet plate, chicken plate, and a few side items for my wife and daughter. Food took way too long to come out. Again, had what came out been great, it wouldn't have mattered. I would have accepted that good home-cooked meal can take a little longer than norm. But that wasn't the case, either. Pig feet and chicken were both just okay and side dishes were overdone. It really was unacceptable what came out after 45 minutes of waiting. I still ended up finishing my pig feet plate and we packed the rest home. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I was the one who had to finish up the leftovers, for my wife and daughter didn't touch it neither there or at home. I really wanted to like them. I guess I'll move onto the other two soul food places I have bookmarked.

I do not recommend I went to this restaurant 1 time a month ago and never went back and some how they managed to charge my card multiple times this restaurant is fraud

First time visiting. Place is nice inside. Fries a little overcooked but shrimp just right. Hushpuppies had a tad more seasoning than i prefer and mac has a little bit too much pepper but all in all pretty good

I ordered the oxtails which were good. They were suppose to come with red skin potatoes, but I received brown instead and was not told they were out. Then the waitress asked me did I want gravy on my oxtails, and I said yes thinking that it comes with it. Also my wife ordered rice with her roast beef, and the waitress asked her if she wanted gravy on her rice and dressing and she said yes thinking it comes with it. The waitress didn't explain that there was a dollar upcharge for each item of gravy. Three dollars that we thought came with the meal...just terrible. The cornbread we received was good, but it was cold.
