In Lawton for some sightseeing and wanted to try a local place for lunch. What a great find! McKenzie’s Burger Garage looks a little sketchy from the outside but inside it is a huge, immaculate restaurant and museum with truly exceptional and unique burgers. The fries are also outstanding and the prices are quite reasonable for a high quality angus burger meal. It’s a bit noisy, but then again it’s a converted garage that is filled with drag racing memorabilia including a full size funny car. If you are visiting the nearby (< 1 mile) Comanche Museum, I highly recommend grabbing a freshly made burger at McKenzie’s!

DO NOT go around lunch time or order to go . Unless you have a two hour lunch break. I was told 15 minutes. I show up 20 minutes later. Stand in line for 20 more minutes. To find out my to go order was not ready. Totally disappointed in service.

2.5 stars. I like the food, it’s not bad, not gourmet but we come to enjoy the restaurant ambience of the restaurant anyway. However! We were bringing my father in law, who has never visited Lawton before, to show him the place and get him some lunch after helping us build a fence all morning only to be turned away at 1:45 on a Friday during their hours of operation because they “HAD a rush.” Mind you, the rush was over and they didn’t say they were out of anything, just that they were busy earlier so they weren’t letting people order now. It disappointed us considering we’ve been loyal paying customers for a couple years now. We weren’t even told “it might be a little bit before we can get your food out to you because we’re a little backed up in the kitchen, we appreciate your patience.” No, we were flat out turned away. I’ve never been turned away from a restaurant during hours of operation and especially not because it had been once been busy earlier in the day. I’d have happily waited for our food but wasn’t even given that as an option. I’m very disappointed in the business model of turning away your paying customers simply because the restaurant experienced what every restaurant does: a rush. I’ve worked years in the restaurant industry and I don’t know that I will go back or show anyone else the restaurant. I don’t want to embarrass myself to any future guests we have or anyone new to Lawton.

The burgers were made to order, and the veggie and chicken burgers were fresh. The fries and jalapeño poppers were good as well. The owner checked up on us, made several conversations with us, and helped us take pictures of the unique scenery in the restaurant. The lunch experience is immaculate.P.S. The Chipotle Mayo is something you need to try.Vegetarian options: The Veggie Black Bean burger is made to order, fresh, and flavorful.
I wish I didn't come here because now its a must have for me, and I'm stationed here for possibly just a short time and I have made it a goal to come all the way back here just to get my Burger and Shake and Fries crave. Best spot here in Lawton yall put Oklahoma on the map and radar for sure lol was never a thought until now. World is missing out. Owner is awsome and staff is amazing whole Staff made every thing perfect and possible.

The food was good. The place is kind of loud and busy. Lots of lights and noise. Borderline overstimulating on a bad day. Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it's a lot of people's. If you like 4 separate screens of Fox news, paper 'blame Biden' signs, and aggressively Christian peepaw decor then it's a great burger. If that sort of environment makes you uncomfortable, I'd recommend you pass.
