Gave Van's a try for the 1st time a weekend or two ago, ordering takeout on a Friday evening. I went with a two meat plate (pork and brisket) with fries and greens, and my partner was in the mood for a simple hamburger. The brisket was passable, but had a good bit of unrendered/chewy fat that was unpleasant. The fries (both with mine and my partner's order) were cold and not even slightly crispy, though I'll give them points for having fries that taste like they're fresh cut. The BBQ sauce that came with my meat was cloyingly sweet and tasted like doctored up KC Masterpiece. I asked for a side of blue cheese dressing - expecting homemade dressing as promised on their website - but was given a packet of Ken's dressing instead. The two bright spots were the pork, which was very flavorful and had great bark, and the burger which was simple, classic and tasty. Overall a pretty underwhelming experience, which was disappointing given the numerous positive reviews I read beforehand.

The staff was excellent! The meat was smoked well and had great flavor without being dry. However, my brisket was very fatty and for the price, I was expecting a little more. The mac and cheese was excellent... When we got home and warmed it up. Fried Okra, Texas toast, and baked beans were all good. To say we were a little underwhelmed would sum it up. We may try again the next time we are in Norman as sometimes there are just bad days.

If you love bacon/pork, this is a MUST! The butchers/chefs are knowledgeable and talented. My partner enjoyed the pig sandwich while I got the stuffed spud with chicken. No table service.

I ordered the three meat plate. I got chopped brisket, sausage and pulled pork. The sides were baked beans and potato salad. The chopped brisket was over done and really crispy. I found a piece that was even crunchy. The baked beans are really runny, so make sure to use a spoon.Everything had a good flavor.

The barbecue is good, however, its a little over priced. Out of the barbecue restaurants I have tried, it's in the top 3. The carrot cake is absolutely delicious!
Outstanding food and service.will definitely be back.

The cashier was rude. We asked could they put the meat on the potato and she said nope. I told her to ask. They were hesitant to do it. Terrible customer service. It was so bad we left without eating. I will tell every Texan I know not to go here. Don't waste your time.
