One skip the dishes was fine, no reflection on him. But this meal was so bad I couldn't even eat it.

We order of skip the dishes. Had it a few times, decided to leave a review. We ordered a 9 piece Korean beef perogies, with a traditional poutine. The poutine: fries were great compared to most places. Very scarce with the cheese and gravy, the outside had many untouched frites.. now to the main perogies…. Korean beef it’s called. It was missing the beef. None. Lots of soggy veggies. The perogies themselves were cooked well. Not sure what’s going on there, but I just had to review this… very poor. Preggo wife loves poutine….missed the mark fellas.

As I am visiting Cobourg and having been to a symposium cafe in Barrie and Alliston and have never been disappointed, I decided to have lunch at the Cobourg Cafe. My lunch was horrible , the chicken on a bun and a Caesar salad, the bun was toasted on the inside but frozen on the top, chicken was tough as old nails and a soggy salad, while I was waiting to pay my bill I also heard another unhappy customer complaining. Just so you know its got to be bad for me to complain. For management and owner go and taste your own food, business should have been bustling, it was not.

Food is good for the most part but we were a large group in an almost empty restaurant and the service was aweful. One friend was charged for the most expensive wine on the menu even tho she asked for a house wine. The added on a 20% tip without telling us. WE WILL NOT GO BACK for our monthly dinner ever.

Ordered the BBQ pulled pork perogies. Came with almost no meat on it. Just onions and bbq sauce. Also was supposed to come with sour cream and they sent teriyaki sauce instead. Absolutely not worth the $13 for 6 perogies. Go to Loaded Pierogi in Bowmanville if you have the option - way better.

Loads of selection, food was hot and tasty. Service was very good (Gillian). I really like having the calorie count listed on the menu. Definitely recommended.

We had tried Symposium and Whitby so wanted to try this one. While this cafe was also lovely, with a nice patio area too, and friendly staff, our meals were just ok, and we were overcharged for our one meal. (I ordered an omelette, including coffee from the early bird special but got charged as if I were building my own omelette and also charged for the coffee. Since the bill came out with the payment machine, we did not look at the bill closely until we got home - disappointing.Hubby got the cuban sandwich which was good, but not as substantial as the one he had in Whitby and my omelette barely had any filling at all. Overall, would not come back for breakfast again - too many better food, cheaper price options. But we might try them again for a drink on the patio!

My wife and I went for breakfast on Sunday morning and it was the worst experience food wise. We made reservations but when we got to the restaurant no one wrote our reservation down. We finally did get a table and waited for service for 20 minutes. Girl was friendly and apologized about being short staff. We ordered coffee and waited 2o minutes to final get some. To save time we ordered food and did not let the waitress get away. Food was cold and very underwhelming. My wife order eggs Benedict and the bacon was like shoe leather! The eggs where the size of a loonie and very rubbery. I had the big breakfast which was to be honest awful. Bill was $50 dollars which I would not have minded if the experience had been good. First and last time for me eating in this restaurant. Total time was 90 minutes and food was awful and very short staffed.

I found my burger very good however the chicken Tuscan soup that came with it was way over salted. It would have been tasty if it wasn't so laced with salt. My friend had the Schnitzel and she said it was ok but she didn't finish it so that says something. If the food was as good as the service you would have hit this out of the park. One other thing, I ordered a glass of wine (Josh) and didn't pay attention to the price. A bottle of Josh at LCBO is $20. A glass of this wine was $22....a bit much of a mark up. Won't make that mistake again.

Visited here last week for breakfast. The food was good and the service was great. Would recommend it.

We were met by friendly staff and while we wanted to sit on the patio, it was not an option because of wasps, they were a particular problem for alot of restaurants late August. We were not looking for dinner just out for a walk but we shared a Rice bowl, and it was fantastic, the flavour was throughout the bowl not just in the big chunks of veggies and even had a hint of heat which was yummy. Our waitress was a friendly local girl and we babbled with her. We will definitely be back and already have told many of our friends! Welcome to Cobourg!

The food was not good. We planned a family birthday for this and the final bill was $500. Chicken stir fry was not a stir fry. It was fried rice in a bowl with small pieces of chicken, which was so minimal that it had to be searched for in the bowl. The rice tasted like a sidekicks rice packet. The steak burrito did have some small cubes of steak in it but the rice once again was the Sidekicks stuff again but it was made bitter with the amount of cumin in it. Two bites was all I could manage but this meal they were kind enough to take off the bill. The French Onion soup broth tasted good but the garlic salad croutons that were used on the top we’re not. Fish and chips orders had 2 large pieces of fish, which was good but the fries were cold. All in all it was a disappointing experience and we will not be returning. I would be surprised if this establishment will last due to the food but the decor inside was lovely and it has a large patio. We shall not be returning.

We FOUR recently tried for the first time this restaurant. I ordered teriaki chicken with rice very little chicken and over the edge with rice, and a hint of teraki sauce, it was terrible. My wife had a vegetable omelete. she said the eggs were bland no taste, like not real eggs.and our friend had pasta it was like they through a whole box of pasta in a bowl with a little bit of sauce she was not pleased. Moral we won't be going there again

The Symposium in Lindsay is one of my favourite places to eat. I was excited to see this location open locally to me and had high hopes of the same elevated dining experience and food quality. I was telling friends how excited I was to try this location and have more selection of restaurants in Cobourg. I had an opportunity to meet a friend for dinner and we chose here. Honestly, from the moment we walked in the door it went downhill. Very abrupt service from reaching the host stand, we were seated at a dirty table, drinks were carelessly dumped at the table. The server provided plenty of time for us decide, which we appreciated. Food was just okay. I had the fish tacos which I have had before and they were good, not outstanding like they usually are. Mediterranean salad was very tasty. My companion had a sandwich and poutine. The gravy was lumpy and she said it did not taste good. When it came time to pay the bill, my payment was put through twice due to the debit machine being out of printer paper. It took time for this to be rectified, the server was apologetic but this was the first time he even made eye contact. I understand they are hiring and are short on staff but the atmosphere doesn't seem welcoming as a guest or for a potential employee. I am in no hurry to return to this location. I unfollowed on social media and won't be recommending them to my friends. I'm really disappointed since I had high hopes of this location meeting the quality (both service and food) as the Lindsay location and visiting often.

Having a kitchen reno done so it was time to do takeout. Ordered online which worked well. The order was ready for pickup and the staff were friendly. Ordered two types of chicken bowls - rice plus chicken in sauce. One was very spicy although there was no mention in the description. The sauces were both overwhelmingly salty. And the chicken and veggies diced to microscopic size. Very poorly done. Very sorry - Cobourg would welcome a new restaurant.
