Visited on Mar 22/24 for dine in lunch before noon.First time visiting this fish and chip shop and I love how quaint it was. I was reading up on some of the history which was nice.Service was quick, though the place was fairly empty for noon on a Friday.Maggie was super great and attentive.Ordered #2 The Best Deal off the lunch menu and maybe it's just been a while since having fish and chips for me but this wasn't the best deal.Upgraded to a Lobster Bisque for $1.95 and got the Halibut and half chips with a drink for $27.40.One piece of fish and a half serving of chips didnt leave me impressed.Yes, the fish tasted great and so did the chips but the portion sizing was something to be desired.Definitely lacking in lunch value.I basically left still hungry.I also wasn't too big of a fan of the tiny size portion of tartar sauce and one lemon. Like in the ketchup cup?At least there was malt vinegar.Don't judge me for how much tartar sauce I like with my fish...I've added a photo of their lunch menu and my order.Maybe go somewhere else if you have a hankering for fish and chips.(Yes, cost of living shrinkflation etc etc I'm just saying the value is not there. I shouldn't be paying almost $35 at lunch time and walking away hungry).

Came here for takeout one evening. The battered halibut was very good. The chips were mediocre. I found the portion size quite small for what they charge though.

amazing spot for great food and great service! These guys know how to do fish and chips and other British food - extensive menu with lots of tasty options to choose from. Service is super friendly and helpful - pleasure to be around. You don't go there for the decor/atmosphere, as it's got a bit of an outdated diner/cafeteria feel to it, but everything else is top notch! Prices are fair. Recommended!

First she brought our way over priced fish and chips with a hair on the fries very small portions for a $22 piece of fish that was so small you could barely see it the breading was greasy and so thin and crisp there was nothing there the gravy had a cup of salt in it we asked if it came with coleslaw she said yes and it was one table spoon of coleslaw then we ordered an order of coleslaw on the side for $4 that was maybe a half cup and was so saturated with mayo it was virtually tasteless no salt or peeper to season when making it it was so bland it's been there for yrs I went in there aboutb20 yrs ago it wasn't bad but this time it was horrible $83 for three orders of fish and chips a small gravy a regular coleslaw and a small pop way over priced the waitress was not good at all the young one with long curly hair never even came back to the table until we were done very poor service then I put a $100 bill there she goes do you need change what excuse me I'm giving you a $17 tip for what you dropped the food on the table that was it what a nut and exchanged the food with hair no disciunt no sorry no nothing then was trying to steal $17 bucks for a tip I should report them I'll

Our family has been coming here for generations. My grandparents were Friday night regulars back in the day. When my grandmother passed away it was very hard on my grandfather. So, he and I began going for dinner together once I moved to the city. It’s been quite some time since he too passed. Now, I go with my family and it’s been the same delightful experience and the same fish and chips that I first enjoyed all those years ago. Crispy, light and delicious. The best I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant is a treasure to the neighbourhood. I would rate them 5 ? if I could because they are truly a gem.

Our search for the finest fish and chips has brought us to west-end Toronto, to a place known as Kingsway Fish and Chips. Despite not being a constant contender in the ongoing debate over the city's best fish and chips, it has garnered commendable reviews that piqued my curiosity. This is a family-run establishment with a genuine homey ambiance. It's evident that they have a loyal following, as the staff appeared quite chummy with some of the regular patrons.Kingsway Fish and Chips took a commendable approach by using halibut for their fish. Halibut is a reputable choice for fish and chips, and the initial impression from the pictures suggested that the batter would be thin, airy, and crisped to perfection. However, the actual outcome was quite the opposite. The batter was only somewhat crispy, with an even more disheartening interior. The fish itself, known for its flakiness, was surprisingly firm, bordering on being less flaky than what you'd find in a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish sandwich. The fries didn't fare much better, leaving the impression of being old and overly oily, as though they had endured multiple rounds of frying. If we must search for silver linings, their tartar sauce was notably light and struck a fine balance with its acidity. The service, too, deserves recognition for its quality. It's somewhat disheartening because, despite being an older establishment, their website boasts a modern and visually appealing menu. The pictures on their site depict an impressive array of delicious-looking dishes. Perhaps, I'll consider giving them a second chance to revisit and sample other items on their menu in the future, 2.5/5.

I ordered a fish and chips to pick up. It didn’t come with coleslaw. When I asked for they told me that was just for the Sallon. If I wanted for take away, I should pay a part… it’s already expensive for the meal … I don’t come back there.

I wanted to take my parents to this restaurant today, we took a long drive just to find the store closed. They could have updated the listing here to avoid misleading customers.

We don't get to Bloor West often so was really looking forward to this. Beautiful day, so sat outside. Food was so disappointing. Oil must of been old as the french fries were terrible and tasted heavy in oil. The fish was the same. Batter was so greasy. The lobster bisque was like water and seriously for an upcharge of $1.95 for a tiny bowl; made no sense. Coffee was cold. Atmosphere was fun and the place was certainly packed. I just don't understand the attraction. We are not fussy eaters; and perhpas this was an off day; but we were both very disappointed.

Low expectations may be the key to happiness most of the time, but NOT here!Tender and juicy halibut with a moderately crispy batter on the outside is what you can expect. The half & half lunch option is nice with a reasonable portion of fries and coleslaw. If you're used to buying fish & chips in the suburbs or from food trucks, Kingsway is more expensive (most menu items hover around the low $20s), but worth the trip for big fish & chips fans, and well priced compared to local restaurantsKid-friendliness: Interesting decorations on the walls may pique kids' interest. Atmosphere can be louder or quieter depending on whether you sit on the patio or in the back.Parking: Few spots available at most points in the day.Wheelchair accessibility: Might be a tight fit through the main door. Washroom located on the main floor should be large enough (more are downstairs, but no elevator or ramp).

They do fish and chips well. Simple but pricey and small portions. Appreciate that their fries are made in beef talon.Parking: Parking is limited. Can be tricky.
