Updated 12/17/23 : **TRIGGER WARNING: ABUSIVE/RACIST/DESCRIMINATION CLAIMS MADE TO CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ ENTIRE THREAD AND OWNERS ABUSIVE RESPONSES.**Don’t buy anything from this shop. The quality and customer service has diminished to practically nothing. My husband entered the shop to find the manager, Angela, arguing with a customer who had brought a whole cake back, stating that it was dry and stale that the people at her party were upset by the poor quality of the cake . Angela then proceeded to be belligerent and rude with the customer refusing to accept what she was saying and telling her to leave. My husband tried to buy three pieces of cake and she told him he was not allowed to buy individual slices. My husband and the other staff members were shocked and dismayed because it was a cake shop and that’s what people come to buy a slice of cake, but she said no, he had to purchase a whole cake, this is right after he listened to the complaint of the woman indicating that her cake was stale and dry and now the manager wants him to purchase a whole cake?Again, she was rude and belligerent with my husband, and he left with nothing and went to a completely different bakery make a purchase. We will not be returning to this cake shop and will be informing any of our European friends and family not to frequent this place ever again. The customer service from the manager is atrociously bad the manager is rude to customers and obviously doesn’t care about maintaining relationships or having returning customers, the quality of the goods has gone down greatly . Anyone reading these reviews should note there are few current reviews most reviews are from years ago. Please also note that the responses from the manager Angela are combative and full of denial with very little regret for a customer having a bad experience. As you can see from the owners response, it was full of denial. My husband did call the owner Gordie. He was calm and polite and did not deny the experience in my review the way he did in his response. And yes, to confirm, I did write a similar review on Yelp. Nothing strange about writing reviews people do it all the time in various different places. My wording still contains the same sentiments and experience albeit in different wording. Nothing strange there as he implies. The owner did CONFIRM that this cake shop DOES NOT SELL CAKE SLICES. You must purchase an entire cake. Again, something he tried to deny in his response. The woman who returned the cake, he couldn’t deny that either, because he was there the day that it happened and tried to offer ‘an explanation’ if he’s aware of all customer complaints, then he would’ve been aware of this episode.Denial by the owner doesn’t make the attitude and experiences of the customer less true. This doesn’t help their business whatsoever.A certain umbrage was taken by the fact that I called Angela a manager. Please be advised that she is the owners wife. It is the owners wife that is rude and belligerent with customers. The fact still remains that the poor and rude customer service is by the owners wife no less which prevents customers from ever returning. The owner and his wife do not seem to be too concerned with the fact that without customers, they will have no business.**Second response from owner brings claims that the customer is racist. PLEASE BE ADVISED THEY DONT EMPLOY PEOPLE WHO ARE BLACK, ASIAN, EAST ASIAN/INDIAN, MIDDLE EASTERN, LATINO OR INDIGENOUS or LGBTQQIP2SA.Yet they falsely accuse customers who complain of being racist. Please read other reviews that support this. The further response is abusive and slanderous which again exemplifies and EXPOSES their combined belligerent and rude manner. Their malignant response IS EMBARRASSING FOR THEM and EXPOSES them in a very UGLY way. They have no humility or integrity and are racist themselves by trying to invoke racism/discrimination as a defence for bad service. Trying to slander a legitimate reviewer instead of addressing the obvious issue that customer service is horrendous.

Found this gem of a place by accident, but is definitely one of our favorite cafes. Everyone working was super friendly and personable. I tried the chocolate cake slice and a cappuccino, both of them tasted so Good. Me and my wife agreed that this would be our go to cafe when we are in that area for sure. Thanks for the hospitality!

Cake was old and soggy

I have ordered two cakes from these people over ten years ago. Both cakes had thick Indian body hairs in them. The first time I thought it was an accident, the next time I was revolted. I don't like giving bad reviews but if you find these thick black Indian hairs in their cakes please make a photo and post. This was absolutely disgusting, it results from a company's desire for the cheapest of cheap labor.

Thanks for the yummy cake, Angie? We have ordered the Romanoff cake with Strawberry and all our guests just loved the cake?

The best way to judge this establishment is go inand read the responses of any complaints made.Responses are very self-revealing. Only a true'whack job' would write these vile responses. There is definitely a pattern of abuse to customers. The food is brought in from the outside not bakedon the premises as purported.

Very rude personal and hostile environment! I will not spend my precious time and money at this place ever again!!! I simply asked for a paper coffee cup (many sitting beside the coffee machine) due to my personal preferences and the desire to enjoy the coffee for a longer time out of the establishment. Well, they refused to give me one because it was not part of their policy. I wonder what would be their reaction during the covid -19 pandemic…Not only I had to explain myself to the so called herself lady-owner but also they kind of made us sit at a table in order to get served by one unpleasant waitress. I quietly finished my pastries without even being offered a glass of water. Apparently, I had to ask for one! When the machine with the tip option was in my hands I exercised my right of choosing not to tip the server and It was the right choice because she made an insulting comment “ Wow so very generous of you” . I tried to explain to her how this industry has worked as being part of it for many years but the only thing she cared about was the money. Well, who would tip her after being insulted and felt unwelcome just because I had my preferences and manners…Just a simple suggestion to the personal if I may: instead of waisting so much time to prove yourself with long useless explanation lecturing all yours disappointed customers ( many bad reviews ), better concentrate on the quality of service and actually show some hospitality standards at your establishment!

Fantastic spot for a light breakfast/lunch/coffee & dessert. I go often and always see many regulars. Food items are fresh and delicious. I love the goulash soup and the various soup/salad/quiche/sandwich possibilities. The tortes, flans, and strudel are famous and very hard to resist with coffee or cappuccino. Lovely atmosphere with classical music softly playing in the background. Pleasant, hard-working staff are always welcoming and make appropriate recommendations. I always leave happy and relaxed.

The women working here are all rude and the the Owner's wife Angie humiliates and berates customers. When challenged about the service the owner tells you not to come back rather than resolve even the most minor of issues. My coffee and my soup was neither hot and I asked if they could be heated up and they said "No." I was insulted when the tip I left was minimal. I asked for a coffee cup so that I could take my coffee home and heat it up, and I was even refused a paper cup. Then the owner said if you write a review I will go in and block your review from the public. Worst experience I've ever had in any coffee dessert/cafe. I later determined that the cakes and desserts are not even baked in-house as purported by the business. They are brought in from an outside bakery, kept frozen at Sweet Gallery then thawed out and served daily. This is deceptive advertising. A hostile environment.

The dine-in server who wears black and the big "sweet "lady" named Angie who operates this establishment are both "Karens", have a sense of entitlement by humiliating disgruntled customers who do not leave a tip or express dissatisfaction. The coffee is cold. The cakes are previously frozen but advertised as baked fresh daily. Nothing is baked at Sweet Gallery. Karma will get them in the end.
