The server's attitude came across as condescending, especially when I asked for a side of soup and she seemed annoyed because I was confused about how the menu worked, she was actually pretty aggressive. While she got a bit better later, it felt like she was just trying to cover up her initial rudeness. Now, onto the food: the cabbage rolls tasted like they were straight from M&M Meat Shop, lacking any real flavor. The Goulash was like something out of a can of Campbell's beef stew, not what I expected at all. The Schnitzel, made from pork, was dry as a bone. And the rice? It seemed like it had been reheated and had lost all its freshness. To top it off, when we asked for more bread, we were told they were rationed. Even worse, when I offered to pay for extra bread, they still refused. Despite the slight improvement in service later on, the whole experience left a lot to be desired, which is why I felt compelled to leave this review.

I have been going to the Black Forest for over 50 years, and it never fails me. Moving an hour away has not stopped me!The food and service is ,always great. The only disappointment I had on the weekend was I'm sad to say was the dessert changes.

Great Bavarian experience, food has always been consistently excellent, servers too. Best schnitzle and spaetzle in town. Goulash is superb. Can't go wrong, affordable and delicious.Kid-friendliness: Great place for Sunday dinner. Kids are welcome at BFI. We often order the family of 4 dinner special for delivery too, cheaper than fast food with side and salad. Food travels better than other takeout for pick up or Skip.

The food is great, just like Oma used to make.I love the ambiance of the original 1967 finishes. Yes it's old, it's got TONS of character. If you want a modern dining room, go to McDonald's.My hang up is with the service. It's SO SLOW! I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes, enjoying the company of the folks I'm dining with, but it's so slow that we had to skip dessert, and I wanted some of that Black Forest cake!I want this historic landmark to thrive and they could be doing better business if they quickened up their service.

goulash/beef stew is a good choice of meal here...it seems to be a popular place for the locals on the weekends....the washroom and the whole place would benefit from some renovation work....all is pretty old..the owner does not put any money in fixing the interior or updating the antient bathrooms....the carpet has not been changed for decates....but reasonably friendly service even though the server does not know much about the food she is serving?!.....the staff should taste all the plates on the menu, so when a customer asks about the flavour of the sauce or beer, the server should know!!!!

All things German and very well done! Husar Schnitzel was amazing... never tasted anything like it! Goulash Soup, Coleslaw, potato Salad, sauerkraut, Krombacher & Paulaner beer... thought I was in Germany! Our server Vicky was terrific!

I've been going to the Black forest for almost 50 years. Their food and portions have not changed. It's awesome. The old story, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Always good service and a nostalgic atmosphere. Menu is not huge but the quality and expertise of Bavarian foods are excellent.Parking: They don't have a designated parking area or lot so leave enough time to find parking in the areaKid-friendliness: My kids love their food

No salad included with a dinner anymore. Their response of 'the salad was free' is not correct. I'm sure the price reflects all inclusions! Anyway, rest of food was great as always!
