One of my favourite places in hamilton. The pupusas are my favourite lunch meal. It’s temporarily closed until they find a new location. I hope they can re-open soon, especially on Ottawa St. We miss you!

Calipan has been a delightful addition to the businesses that adorn one of Hamilton’s most iconic streets, Ottawa Street. It gave a splash of Latin flavour by treating their customers to delicious delights from Colombia.The owners of this fine establishment, William & Catalina and their beautiful family would always treat their customers with a smile and would always go the extra mile to help those in need; not just filling up their bellies but nurturing their hearts. They cared deeply for their paying customers and for some who, in extreme cases, couldn’t pay.I was, at the beginning of their 7 years in business, a part-time worker and my family and I were loyal customers as well. We will always support them and hope to see them flourish once again with God’s help.Let’s continue to support small businesses. Amazing little bakery in Hamilton. Reminds me of a little taste of home. Always stop by when I'm in the area for some chicken and beef empanadas and some deditos (cheese fingers) which are a must try for any cheese lover as it's simply rolled bread with delicious stretchy soft cheese that'll have you coming back for more. Guaranteed!?? And if you're new to Colombian food definitely try it with the Postobón.

Calipan has authentic, Colombian food as bread, pastries, and snacks. We tried empanadas, almonjabanas and buñuelos, very tasty. They have a variety of drinks as juice and coffee, we had cappuccino and passion fruit juice, both were delicious and freshly made, the service was superb!

The bottled aji for the empanadas is really good! Worth the buy! Wish they gave little cups of it when you buy empanadas to eat fresh. Bought tonnes of frozen empanadas for those hankerings. Also got the frozen buñuelos but haven’t tried them yet. Great service at the counter and enjoyed the experience. Tasted great!

I was going to celebrate my new job by finally getting some cheese sticks and the lunch special to go. I forgot they were closed. The disappointment I felt was so genuine that it reminded me to review. Thats just how good this food is, people. I'm sad to inform both I and calipan have the same days off. I'll find a way to get the cheese sticks again.

Family-owned "hole in the wall" joint with a few tables and AMAZING food, friendly staff and reasonably priced... empanadas (fried with cornmeal crust) are top-notch, as are the pork pupusas
