I grew up outside Montreal and I know smoked meat. Living in Ottawa for 20+ years decent smoked meat has been hard to come by which is frustrating. Recently discovered this place and was very impressed! I feel it is the best in Ottawa, but there are better places in and around Montreal for sure, but who wants to drive to Montreal every time they want a smoked meat? Fries are excellent also, double fried and tasty. Highly recommend. Will be trying the Carling location soon.
When I got there all tables were free and clean, the food was served fairly quickly and it was delicious.

Delicious. I have never eaten a smoked meat sandwich in Montreal, but it would have to be something really special to be better than Markie's. Generous, juicy, heapings of meat, added with lightly flavoured mustard and a nice side of fries and a decent cole slaw. Friendly staff make Markie's a nice place to drop by for a bite if you're in the area.

This is a delightful sandwich spot that has fabulous Montreal smoked meat. The poutine is so delicious. The wonderful thing about the sandwiches is you can get the true authentic smoked meat with mustard and nothing else! Incredible!
