We’ve had some success initially when ordering here. Fish has at times been crispy with a nice, light batter. Other times have received fish that wasn’t fresh. Always under-seasoned. Tartar not the best IMO. Service staff can be inattentive to requests. Have caught a cook becoming visibly upset at our presence shortly before close. Prices too high for what’s being served.

Got order delivered...first mistake.....fish and chips need to be served and eaten hot. My order was not. I have been fishing for most of my life......the pieces of fish are cut in half lengthways; hence, you get a thin piece of fish which looks to be quite large. Coating of the fish falls off after being fried, most likely because fish isn't bone dry when coated. The breading is very oily. Fries ok but not hand cut in the restaurant. Lastly, tartar sauce in little packets!!! What fish and chip place can't make their own tartar sauce? Much better fish and chips in kingston. Capt. Georges and Pilot House.

We go to Halibut house regularly, as they have the best price to portion ratio in kingston. The food is also delicious.They are super friendly and the place is usually really clean. The only problem they have is that every now and then, they have one waitress who does not write the order down and tries to remember it all. Then she messes stuff up or has to come back to clarify multiple times. Which can become frustrating, especially if you are hungry or hangry. LolOther than that, though, Halibut house is a great place to eat.

Wish the menu was available online, so submitting takeout one from June 2023. An allergy menu would also be helpful, but smaller family owned places (and this is a smaller chain I believe) usually don't have one. The restaurant was not busy at lunch time. We had the Monday special fish and chips and portion size was excellent, fries very good and fish was good tasting as well.
