Delicious food, generous portions, lovely service, quiet atmosphere. A superb dining experience in a local neighbourhood environment. The chef really has it going on and our server was excellent. Limited wine selection but what was available were.all good wines. Recommended.

Horrible experience with this catering and restaurant service. Emanuela who is the owner is very rude. She least understands the requirements of the clients. After confirming that Blackfriars will be doing the catering for my event, she did not have any follow-ups or conversation after giving the confirmation. Asked to pay $500 deposit first to continue any conversation, which we paid the minute she asked for it. When asked about tasting of food, she said there is no tasting but we can come to the restaurant and have food with cost. For 3 people we paid $270 for just some snacks and a meal. Also left a big tip to the server there who was also very rude. After almost spending $800 on this scam catering, Emanuela decided to not do the catering. Ignored several calls we made. This is horrifying experience and I would strongly recommend to not consider this bistro for any events and even visiting their restaurant. Their food is mediocre. These people are scam and please be aware of them. It is better to not host the event than to have them serve in one. Horrible, arrogant, greedy for money and the worst is no communication skills or commitment. Very surprising that they are surviving in the market with this service.

Visited the Emporio today, first time. A fabulous assortment of products, prepared foods, pastries and grab & go foods of all kinds. We picked up some scones and a beet soup.

Excellent service. Lovely menu and great choice of specials. Tables are nicely spaced apart for conversations with your party. The pate was great to start, and my salmon was perfectly cooked with a nice lemony couscous. Great experience.

Fantastic wedding catering! We recently had Blackfriars cater our wedding and they did a lovely job, the whole process from start to finish couldn’t have been better, Betty was so great to coordinate with us upon each detail and with our vendors. We had so many compliments on the food, all our guest loved their dinner! The late night menu and bar was also a hit, the staff was very prompt and professional. We absolutely recommend for anyone needing a great catering company! Much thanks to Betty, Bryan, Emanuela & the whole team at Blackfriars!

This gem located in the Blackfriars district is a quaint restaurant that offers delicious farm-to-table cuisine. I took my nephew and my niece for lunch and the restaurant staff did not disappoint. I ordered my favourite - Soft-Ripened Mozzarella with Artisan Greens, Prosciutto, Pears, Crushed Hazelnuts & Local Honey. My niece went with Fettuccine with Mushrooms, Lemon, Black Tiger Shrimp, Parmigiano & Tarragon-Pistachio Pesto and my nephew ordered their homemade lasagne. For dessert, we shared one of their featured selection - a delicious meringue creation with fresh fruit. Highly recommend!

If you haven’t recently visited this local London culinary favourite, Blackfriars has quietly remade itself and enhanced its stellar reputation. Prepare to enjoy a seminal, seasonal and from-scratch dining experience. This long-time London, Ontario mainstay prepares genuine farm-to-table cuisine in a casual and intimate space with mosaic tables and alfresco dining on a new seasonal patio and features an adjoining gourmet food store and scratch bakery. Chefs and the owner are proponents of the Slow Food movement. The menus change frequently and are cultural journeys into the local terroir, taking inspiration from France and Italy. Many excellent consignment wines and interesting craft cocktails are on a small but well-curated list. We are fans of Chef’s Seafood Brodetto, Stuffed Calamari with Lobster and Shrimp and his signature Fettuccine with Black Tiger Shrimp and Tarragon-Pistachio Pesto. The kitchen also makes an excellent Burger and is known for Chef’s savoury tourtiere, quiche and blackboard specials at lunch. The soft-ripened Mozzarella and Prosciutto Salad are a particular favourite. Desserts are seasonal and made in-house. The adjoining store features excellent soups and takeaway meals.
