It was worst sushi ever!!

Went to the restaurant for a quick dinner on the weekend as it was close to the community centre. The sushi (set with red dragon roll) was as expected, but I really enjoyed the miso soup and tea.The restaurant was very well decorated with various elements of Japanese culture to bring you that authentic feel. The enclosed booths are private if you want them to be, and the screen reveals Totoro!

We were fairly disappointed by the quality of the food. We booked this place because of the high ratings. The sushi rice had no taste...the party tray is heavy with makis and the waitress kept spilling things beside our table including hot udon broth...

The salmon is not fresh! We got sick an hour after eating here!Immediately we noticed the taste and smell was off but we ate some anyway, trusting the restaurant. Eventually, I had to send back my food because it was inedible, they offered a new plate and the difference in quality was vast. The first plate really was spoiled. They said they get fresh fish everyday but I highly doubt that’s true, I’ve worked in multiple sushi restaurants and they get fish once or twice a week. If it is true, then they completely mishandled their raw fish, making it rot in hours. It’s probably safer to get udon or bento here, something fully cooked. $65 for food poisoning isn’t a good deal! I wish they gave us a discount at least for the food poisoning ?

I have been a customer of this restaurant for a year and have introduced this sushi place to more than 7 people. Today me and a fiend if mine had a chicken Teriyaki Bento which was smelly and not fresh, I kindly asked if they can change it but their response was like no it doesn't smell and you gotta eat. Then I said Im not going to eat this so the server took the plate. So we ordered something else However on the bill they charged us for the Bento that have been returned. It was disappointing for me, the owner/ sushi maker came to our table with this high attitude and start yelling at us that if your not a chef you can not tell what is fresh and what is not. Their behaviour It was surprising for me.The owner at the end asked us to leave and never come back again, since he has his customers already

Food is OK. The place is small and cozy. it is a bit cold during this season. Everytime the door is opened, the cold wind just blows straight in. We had to wear jacket while eating.
