Veey raciest place - it showed tonightWhen i 1st made the reservation we were a group of 7 - they said groups of 7 and up were mandatory 15 percent on the bill. Our 7th cancelled so we called the day before and changed to 6.3 on one bill 3 on the other. When we got the bill they still added the 15 percent. When we confronted our horrible waitress who didnt even refill our drinks about it - she tried to say groups of 3 and up. She ebded up giving my asian friend her 15 percent back and not me. I guess i was too white and my kids were too black. She finally gave me back the ten i tipped but kept the 15 percent.Watch your bill.Other then that the mamager who was working was great. Hes the one who filled our drinks and cleaned our table. Super sweet guy - shame he works w such slack people.

We had a reservation for 5:30 PM, and by 6:40 PM, the staff repeatedly rushed us to leave, mentioning that another group of customers had a reservation coming up. I find it hard to understand because, based on the 1.5 hours typical dining time, the next group should not be expected until after 7:00 PM. The constant urging really spoiled our mood! I did not complain about the automatic 15% gratuity for tables of six or more, but being rushed like this was really inappropriate.

Just had a terrible experience. Waited 45 min only to be taken to a table that’s literally in the passageway. And they refused to offer another seat. Take it or wait another 40min. The attitude made me walk!

First time at this restaurant. Lunch at $30.99 is expensive to the point of rid off compared with many others. Serving portion comes small except for the house fried rice. Even the tempura sauce is served in a small dipping couplet. There is even at tea charge of $2 ea. And the tip amount is a mandatory 15% - insane!

Amazing food! I’ve tried many different restaurants around the GTA and this by far has to be the best. Our server Jimmy was great and super friendly, definitely great customer service all around from all the staff and quick service! 10/10, I definitely recommend anyone to visit this restaurant!

Our party of six ventured into August 8 on a Sunday night, excited to indulge in an all-you-can-eat sushi experience. Unfortunately, what awaited us was a series of disappointments that overshadowed any enjoyment we might have had.The first hurdle came with the hour-long wait to get a table. While we understood that accommodating larger parties takes time, the lack of communication about the wait time through the reservation system or by the hostess was disconcerting.Once seated, we eagerly placed our initial order through the all-you-can-eat system, only to find ourselves waiting in vain for most our food to arrive. Despite a couple more attempts to submit orders, our table remained mostly empty. The explanation? Our orders had supposedly not been printing in the kitchen. As we were out celebrating, this significantly impacted the joyous occasion, as we struggled to place orders directly with the wait staff, seizing the opportunity whenever we managed to catch their attention. As our patience waned and the kids grew restless, we opted for ice cream to salvage what remained of the evening. Yet even this simple request was met with frustration as we were informed of out-of-stock items and further delays. To add insult to injury, we were blindsided by a mandatory 15% gratuity on groups of six or more, a detail conveniently omitted until the bill arrived. This, coupled with the lackluster service and technical issues, left a bitter taste in our mouths. While the food itself was passable, resembling what one might expect from an all-you-can-eat establishment, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. The deafening noise level and interminable wait times only compounded our dissatisfaction. In conclusion, August 8 proved to be a regrettable choice for dining. With subpar service, technical glitches, and hidden charges, it failed to deliver on its promise of a satisfying AYCE feast. If you choose to dine here, proceed with caution and tempered expectations.

Service was fairly slow, had to ask for water and refills after waiting, also had to ask for eta on half of our order that took half an hour . Their restroom also smelt like sewage. Sad to see this restaurant go downhill

Food was delicious, but I got food poisoning from some of the raw fish (I was the only one of our group to have raw fish and also the only one who threw up twice later that night/morning). I previously had a great experience at the Hamilton location and assumed the Oakville location would be similarly great, but unfortunately that was not the case.

I have diarrhea for three days after having a dinner there. Most of the servers there were not friendly, I was not going to give any tips at the time but there was one young waiter changed my mind.

Enjoyed the good and the experience. The dishes arrived quickly and the table was kept clean. Good value for money when compared to other places in the same price range

Today went to have dinner with my family . Food was really bad . Shushi was old and dry no flavor to it. We ordered teppanyaki and it was tasteless. Chicken fried rice was dry and crunchy. Sever was never around to see if we enjoyed the food. Food was below average for the price we paid. This was the first and last visit to this restaurant and will never recommend to any of my friends.

Deda's exceptional service at August 8 transformed my dining experience into a memorable occasion. From her warm welcome to her attentive recommendations and accommodating demeanor, Deda's hospitality was truly remarkable. Her respectfulness, and customer-oriented approach ensured my time at the restaurant really enjoyable. Deda remained professional and dedicated, making me feel valued as a guest. She would regularly come around my table to check if I have any questions or needs. I love their torched sushi. I highly recommend visiting August 8 to experience Deda is undoubtedly an asset to the establishment.
