The atmosphere was great, and the food tasty (although the tostones were so oily we barely ate any of them). The service was not great, ordered dessert and a water as I had finished my drink, but the waitress kept forgetting about us and focusing on the tables that were ordering alcohol. We eventually got the water and dessert after multiple requests. The 20% gratuity that was automatically added to our bill was a surprise given the level of service and the fact that there were only 3 of us in our party. I understand adding it for large groups, but not for 3 people. Rating 2 stars for the tasty food and atmosphere, 0 stars for the service and the surprise 20% tip.EDITED TO ADDRESS OWNER’S RESPONSE: respectfully, I’m not surprised at the response based on the comments that I see on other reviews. We fry tostones at home, so this was not our first time having fried tostones, and I can tell you that the level of oiliness that your tostones had was unreasonable (they were unappetizing and almost translucent). We did not wait a long time to order as you state, and having a 3/4s full restaurant did not warrant being ignored in favour of tables that were ordering a lot of alcohol and us having to remind our server about or dessert and drink multiple times as she walked by our table. The level of service that we received did not warrant your server adding a 20% tip without prior notification when her service was clearly lacking.

Avoid this horrible place at all cost, the service is the worst I encounter ever, food was cold and didn’t taste fresh. I was charged for drinks that I never ordered, and when I asked for the bill to get fixed , the wife was extremely rude. She asked me a week before the reservation to send her $140 via etransfer to hold the table and she will send the money back after the reservation ,when i asked her next day for the money she said I was harassing her and will call the police. Unbelievable! This people have not clue how treat customers, they added extra items to everyone on the table, she charged me 5 extra beers and one mojito, $60 over and on top 20% tip. For the extremely poor service. What a terrible experience!!! we were a party of 14 , family group . And I still shaking , I never ever have any experience like this in my life!

LOOKOUT FOR 20% GRATUITY FEE INCLUDED IN THE BILL FOR A PARTY OF 3!I took out my mother and sister for dinner at Cuba's Restaurant for an early Mother's Day celebration for all three of us. The service has deteriorated since I was there last. We were often overlooked/neglected (patrons ordering alcoholic drinks seem to be a priority). Even though we enjoyed the food for the most part, the bill's final amount seemed unusually steep. When they gave me the receipt, A 20% GRATUITY FEE was incorporated into the final bill!!! NO HEADS UP. Nothing around the restaurant stating that gratuity was included because of pandemic recovery. DO NOT BE FOOLED, IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. I want to support my fellow Latin peoples, but this was blatant exploitation. Happy Mother's Day to us.

Appetizer was amazing (tostones) but the customer service was not great. We didn't get water despite repeated asks, patrons walked through with no masks since they knew the staff personally, the drink we ordered tasted like fish (very strange) and we now both have stomach aches. Do not recommend.

Actually have never eaten here. I heard great things about the food and would love to go, They are closed every time we want to go though. My friends have similar experience. Just wanted to post and say some of us would love to give you our money if you were open for lunch on weekends.

Small but cozy and Very family oriented…owners are so friendly and interact with you like you are family! Good authentic Cuban food…great drinks and reasonably priced! Call for their weekend life music…they always have some sort of entertainment! It’s a fun place with good food!! One of my favourites:)

I love this spot - my husband is Cuban and this is the ONLY authentic Cuban food I have found for him in Ontario so far. It compares to my husband's mother's cooking. I have not had a bad meal - we have only had great experiences with the food and service. The owners are amazing and fun people who are kind and generous. Highly recommend if you want to know what locals eat in Cuba - or - what food would be like in Cuba if you were not staying on a resort.

I was recommended to try cuban food in Canada.i have tried it many times when visiting Cuba..so I Googled cuban restaurants..didn't find many by the way..I decided to go to this one .unfortunately it was not the best experience..the server/owner was abrupt and not too happy every time we ordered something..the food was not like what I have tried In Cuba.. the tostones were very oily, the rice and beans had no taste at all..and the fish was disgusting..very disappointing experience...we were 6 ppl and 2 of the bills had additional charges fot things we never ordered ,the owner was very unapproachable and got offended when asked about it. I would not recommend this place..save your money. I hope they revise their menu and customers experience..thats key to be successful. Take the feedback, look inside and think where is the gap.

The server/owner/wife, has Horrible customer services skills, is very obvious she does not enjoy working with people, she mistreat the customers verbally all the time, she has not clue how to take an order, she made a mistake with all our plates and if you dare complain she will yell at you , she just shoved all the plates on the table and you have to find out which dish is your, and good luck trying to get a drink, you have to ask many times, is like she wants to destroy the restaurant reputation on purpose, I don't understand. We asked for coffee and she said she only have Cubita coffee and she said that coffee was disgusting's, she said the Colombian coffee was better but she didn't have it , what kind of nonsense is that? Cubita coffee is amazing ! I think she didn't want to serve coffee for some reason. (laziness maybe ).The chef/owner/husband it seems like a nice guy and came to our table and was very attentive but I don't comprehend how he does not see what the server is doing with the customers? I'm puzzle. When the bill arrived we were charged for many drinks we never ordered and on top they have the nerves to charge 20% gratuity ,gratuity is something you earn with a good service lady!!! and the chef, husband that we though it was a nice guy!!!! well he wasn't !!! and that's all I'm allow to say !! we were just asking to fix the bills and this Mr. Didn't like it at all. okkkk, we supposed to pay for extra charges and not complain??? I wonder if he really cares at all for his restaurant? so many bad complains, all saying the wife is rude. My advice to Him: Hire a sever that has good attitude .Your lady should be far away from customers, or even better, she should spend a year living in Cuba like a local ,Not in the resort but in Cuban town, she will learn about the Cuban culture, how Cubans care for each other and shares everything they have with their neighbors , will learn good manners and I guarantee you she will be back a changed woman, she may even beg me to comeback to the restaurant!! We went for dinner on Friday. The food was delicious, the hostess friendly and the ambience warm yet funky.. The musician was brilliant. Super talented. What stood out about Alexis Martinez was that he was a performer through and through. He was funny, talented, versatile and even took an impromptu Salsa Class for us. We had a great night out.Cuba's Restaurant is having to relocate after 10 years as the location is being converted to Condos. Hopefully they find a new space soon. Wishing them the very best!!

Ambience and food were good. Service needs major improvement. My party of 4 arrived at 7pm and didn't get our dinner until 8:35. Now, I usually tip between 10 to 15% but paying 20% for slow service! With only 1 cook and 1 server, how can you offer 5 star service! Sorry, but I won't be returning.

If you have been to Cuba but never eaten outside a resort, you have never tried real Cuban food. This place serves authentic Cuban food, full of flavours and spices.We had tostones rellenos with pork (green deep fried plantains stuffed with pork roast) and deep fried cassava for appetizers.Our mains were ropa vieja (shredded beef with tomato sauce), rice and beans and ripe deep fried plantains and a Cuban sandwich with plantain chips. The food was extraorfinary. You have to try also a salsa the owner makes which is out of this world. Service was friendly and fast. We loved it and we are coming back. Thank you for the food!!!

Last night I was dropping a friend off here to attend a birthday party of about 14 people. I wanted to stay and have one drink to say hi to the people I knew there and asked if I could pull a table over to the friends tables. Right away she says "$10 cover for the music and $25. minimum consumption" Her words. I said I was just staying for one drink, and ok to the music cover charge, but I 'd have to pay the minimum $25. for one glass of wine. So $35. for one drink and 20 minutes in there. She says "yes it's a restaurant , not a bar!" and she was rude about it. So I left. Checked with my friends today and they said they got into it with her too over the cover charge as it's not advertised having a cover. And to top it off said the food was lousy and overpriced. There were 2 real Cubans in this group too. They don't deserve to be in business, and are a bad reflection on the people of Cuba!
