My super sweet friends took me out for my birthday and ultimately let me decide on the restaurant. They would have never picked Sotto Sotto on their own, which I why I feel horrible that I picked this place to celebrate my birthday. I have dined at Sotto Sotto Yorkille plenty of times and have excellent dishes complimented by even better service - as it should be when you spend your hard earned money, make the effort to leave your home to enjoy a night out, and choose that specific establishment to spend your time.My experience here at Sotto Sotto Oakville was completely unsettling. Our server, who's name I failed to get, was pleasant at first, but as the night went on she seemed more and more irritated by us asking for items that we should not have to continuously ask for like salt and oil. Her response was "I can only bring it if you ask, I am not allowed to bring it otherwise". How strange - I have never heard this. She also mentioned the special, which now after reading these reviews, seems to be the special everyday (fettuccine/white truffle), which was a $60 pasta dish, which was subpar in flavour. We ordered a spaghetti carbonara, which was just not good plain and simple. I have eaten many carbonara dishes, even in Italy and this was just insultingly not good. It was also undercooked, not al dente. There is nothing fun about eating pasta when you can crunch into the hard parts. So as any normal paying customer would do, we brought it to the attention of the server who was so rude and took our concern very personally, took the plate of pasta and came back and said "the chef and the manager checked it and it is a perfect al dente". At this point, I felt so dismissed as a customer and asked for the manager to come out so I could explain to him how unacceptable this whole experience was. At first, he was also super defensive, but when I told him it was my birthday he did try to rectify the situation by complimenting us some dessert and coffee, which was very much appreciated. However, I will never dine with Sotto Sotto again. I am completely turned off of the brand and cleary the experiences I had in the past were just a thing of the past. When it comes to dining out I am very big on where I spend my money or where I am taking my friends to have a good time. I think restaurant owners tend to forget that coming out and dining out is a big deal for people especially during times like this. I am also big on customer service - if you cannot staff people with good communication skills you shouldn't be in business. Not only did that server and partially the experience with the manager ruin my evening, I felt and still feel terrible my friends paid the bill. I honestly would have been more satisfied and happy having a Big Mac from McDonald's - at least I know what I am getting.Absolutely disappointing and on top of that I still don't feel like they really understood what the issue was. Seems like a lazy attempt to charge $30+ for plates of pasta that we all know should be no more than $10. Not into businesses robbing people for shitty dishes. Thanks, but no thanks!

My 3 friends and I chose Sotto Sotto as a place to celebrate one of our milestone birthdays this evening and to say we were disappointed with the whole experience is an understatement. The food was expensive and nothing special and the service was abhorrent.Food: we ordered a pizza to share, the carbonara, the fettuccini truffle special, the calamari and the chicken scallopini. The pizza was decent, everything else was just okay but the carbonara was terrible. I enjoy my pasta al dente and this was borderline uncooked spaghetti with a little crunch in the centre. The overall taste of this dish was off putting too as we had tried this at the Toronto location and it was far superior than its Oakville counterpart. We were also shocked that the fettucini truffle special turned out to be $60+ considering the pasta was nothing special. $60 for a small plate of pasta that wasn't even mind-blowing? Absolutely absurd. We were shocked at the price but we should have asked for the price before ordering, lesson learned for next time. Overall, the food was not even close to being as good as it should be for the price. Highly overpriced and undeveloped flavours.Service: Now the food was meh, but the service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress seemed off from the get-go, seeming a little displeased with us asking for extra chili oil for the bread but we chalked it up to maybe it being a busy night and it was no big deal initially. However, once I politely mentioned that the carbonara was uncooked, she immediately got defensive, took the plate with the leftover spaghetti in a huff and told us she had to speak with the manager. She comes back and says to us "the chef and the manager have both tested the spaghetti and it was cooked perfectly al dente". She then argued with us whether or not we were incorrect for suggesting that it was uncooked. The condescending tone she had took us all back and we were shocked. I have never ever had any waitress talk to me the way she talked to us. It was extremely rude and basically telling us that we were in the wrong because the pasta was "perfect". She also INSISTED that she asked us how the food was and that we said it was good, which was inaccurate. She asked us how the pizza was as it was our appetizer but never came back to ask about our pastas/mains. Regardless of this, it all seemed so bizarre that she would even argue with us over all of this and this interaction made us feel incredibly awkward. I asked to speak with a manager and after a length amount of time, the manager came to our table and initially started defending her. Only after my friend said it was her birthday and that we were having a stressful time did he start to apologize and want to "make it up" to us, which he did by providing dessert and coffee. Although appreciated, we did not really feel heard regarding the whole situation. I do have to mention that the waiter who served us the dessert and coffees was great but it wasn't enough to make up for this terrible experience.I've honestly never had such an experience at a "nice" restaurant like this. I don't think we were being unreasonable letting them know about uncooked pasta politely but were met with attitude that was unwarranted. We will definitely not be coming back to this location. I really hope they are able to take these situations into account and work to make it a better experience for their customers.

I have been here several times and always liked it... but today was different. Firstly, I ordered a coke and it came with a straw. On my first sip from the straw, a toothpick came out of the straw and into my mouth. I'm hoping it wasn't a used toothpick? Gross.I ordered a fire roasted red pepper side dish and it never came to the table. We ordered a second bottle of water that never came. We ordered bolognese pasta to go and almost left the restaurant without it because it also never came.My wife ordered a fettuccine dish with white truffle and when she asked the waitress if it had anything else in it she was told no but the dish also contained mushrooms. The waitress also told the table next to us the same thing (that it was only fettuccine and white truffle). The funniest part about the whole ordeal was that there was a note in the menu about not doing substitutions because they want to maintain consistency in the food? This experience ultimately cost me over $300.

The atmosphere is beautiful, but unfortunately I did not get to eat.I booked a reservation over the phone for Valentine's Day in January, in advance to ensure I had a spot for what is usually a fully booked evening. At the time of booking, the website had no mention of a fixed menu for that evening and presented only their normal menu. The gentleman on the phone also did not mention a fixed menu despite telling him I was reserving for Valentine's Day. I received two calls in the subsequent weeks to confirm I was still maintaining my reservation, and yet no mention of a fixed menu.Come that evening, we take our seats and we're informed that only a fixed menu is available for $120 a person. I informed the waiter that I booked well before they introduced the fixed menu for Valentine's Day and we asked the whether they could accommodate any other dish. However, they were unwilling to make any other accommodations. Needless to say, we were unable to find any other spots across Oakville for the evening. To the restaurant - I don't think it's fair to swap out the menu on reserving guests without notifying them. Had you informed me, I would have been more than happy to free up my reservation for others. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Very nice. I just wanted a quick bite on their busiest time and they accommodated me just the same. Like mommas home cooked pasta?

TLDR; Authentic upscale Italian restaurants with many many ingredients flown in from Italy. Amazing flavours and such great quality within each dish. You know it's good when you can't go wrong with anything you order :) I've been here a handful of times but this time I came in for a quick bite on a Friday and, as expected, they were full. We sat by the bar but it was honestly an amazing experience. The Bartender (Jerry) was fun company and made us some delectable and beautiful custom cocktails of Gin Sour (8/10) and Lychee Martini (9/10). We started off with their Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio (8.5/10) which was very tender and light in flavour, and also their Grilled Octopus (10/10) which was perfectly grilled and a girthy size hahha! This sauce was sooo good btw - worth using all your sourdough bread to soak it up! Their Carbonara (10/10) was delicious, I was really craving carbonara and this hit. the. spot! Their Seafood Linguini (9/10) was also very flavourful as well and the amount of seafood they toss in there is generous - recommend to add a bit of their Italian House Chili ;) Ended off with their Strawberry Gelato (5/10) which was a bit too tart for my liking, I do miss their Pistachio Gelato (10/10) so much - please bring it back! :( Visited: Friday, February 2nd 2024 @ 8pm

I have been here 3 times in the last 5 months. The first two times were very good. In fact I liked it more than the downtown location. We had two of the featured specials. The burata was bland! I swear they forgot to put any dressing on it.Second we also tried the osso bucco. What they brought looked like shredded beef over pasta. Nothing wrong with the beef or the pasta but it certainly was not osso bucco. Sorry but from where we come from in Italy osso bucco is presented with the bone.Had they explained what they were bringing we might have ordered it but at least I would known what they were bringing.

I held a birthday event for my husband yesterday and the Manager Mr Fabio helped arrange a private room and a menu with various choices. I was extremely happy on the day of the event with attention to detail of the table set up and looked elegant with personalized menus acknowledging the birthday guest etc. food was very good and service and atmosphere was amazing. I will return due to a great collaboration from the Manager in setting this up and above all ensuring that my high expectations were not only met but exceeded. Fabio and team went beyond what I wanted . So a big thank you for making my husband’a important birthday memorable and our guests very happy with this experience.
