Last Sunday we took a drive out to Orangeville and stopped for dinner at the Hatter. We did not know what to expect and thought it would be typical pub food but we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the menu and had received our meals. All of them were very flavorful and we were impressed with the food and the portion. Definitely will come back!! Cindy was an awesome host!

As a foodie, coming from Toronto to meet my sister I was skeptical about bar food. She kept on raving about this Lobster pasta dish, so, we had a go. I had no expectations.We started with a Greek Salad, which was fresh and delicious (can be shared with 3) and some sweet potatoe fries which were very good.To the main dish, the lobster pasta was really good, and a big portion for the money value. My small critique, less black pepper while cooking. Overall it was creamy, and you can really taste the lobster. It was a 10 for me.Ah, the fries are good too ?

Phoned the hatter to see if their kitchen was open.They confirmed their kitchen was open so long as we called before 10:00.We then call back before 10:00 and give the hatter our order.We are told our order would take 25 minutes.We show up in 25 minutes, and they have no clue about any order what so ever.We fully spoke with somebody on the phone and gave them our order.We arrive, nobody knows a thing.This is the last time I will ever try this joke of a restaurant.Service deserves -100000000 stars.Place is ran by idiots.
Food was overcooked. Waitress didn't listen to any requests we made to our meal. Both dinners were inedible. Couldn't even get my drink order proper.Will never go back or recommend to anyone.

Although they have 'gastropub' in the name, inside it doesn't feel like they are going for the trendy angle other pubs in Orangeville are going for. I have enjoyed the wings, and the curry sauce they serve with the chips is delicious. To me this is a basic pub, solid in each category.
