It’s been a fantastic experience to visit Suisha on each and every occasion, and this time was no different. This Japanese restaurant certainly stands above the competition in terms of its beautiful decor and atmosphere, but more than anything, the quality of the food just can’t be beat. If you’re looking for the perfect traditional Japanese experience right here in Ottawa, you’ve found the right place — just be sure to act fast, since this precious part of Ottawa’s food scene will be closing permanently at the end of June 2023. You will regret missing out on one of Ottawa’s greatest restaurants.

Managed to get a reservation in their Tatami room for my best friends before they close on July 1st. The cuts of fish on the nigiri were much larger than other sushi restaurants, and very high quality. I had no idea that the atmosphere of the basement area would be so well articulated. Lots of interesting things to try on the drink menu and dessert menu. It'll be sad when they close up but I'm so glad I got to experience a part of Ottawa dining history.

This restaurant is a gem in the Ottawa gastronomic scene. The fish is always exceptional, the staff is courteous and the atmosphere brings you to a traditional japanese vibe. An absolute must.

It was great sushi in Ottawa. Sushi quality was so great. Even I could have some sweet taste with sushi. Not like a sugar sweet. It was amazing.Unfortunately, this restaurant will be moved to some of Ottawa places soon. I don't know where they will go.If you want to eat the best quality sushi in Ottawa, hurry up!

My fav sushi place in Ottawa! I have been here a few times and it was lovely every single visit! Tip: call in advance and have reservations if possible since they’re quite busy!A few recommendations:- Agedashi Tofu is a must if you’re a tofu lover! I was in awe with the texture and taste! I have never had anything similar before. The gentle crisp covering the silken tofu in sauce topped with bonito flakes! 10/10- Always love a good wakame! 8/10! I think it’s a good addition but not a must.- We got Hinodé Sashimi, which is the chef’s choice if assorted sashimi for the day and he did not disappoint! Every single piece is prepared to perfection and so fresh!- Unagi Nigiri Sushi was also so delicious and I would definitely recommend it to anyone 10/10- We also order Katsu Don. Ok hear me out, it was delicious, but take into consideration all the other food cause we’re too full at this point but love rice so much that we have to try. It was delicious though! I would recommend it! 9.0/10- We also order Soft Shell Crab 8.5/10. If you like crab then it’s an interesting dish, should definitely try!We also order dessert and any option you choose is unbelievably good! Too bad they’re closing soon, C’est Japon is always one of the best places in Ottawa in my opinion!

What a hidden gem in downtown Ottawa! I'm so glad I discovered this place. From the impeccable and professional service to the very tasty food and eclectic decor, this restaurant checks all the boxes. I made a reservation earlier in the day but an accident on the highway made us 20 minutes late. I called the restaurant to give them a heads up and they were super nice about it. Upon arrival they were very welcoming and again thanked me for calling to say we were running behind. We sat in the basement which was awesome as we had to walk over some rocks to get to our own private room! Across from us was another room that had the traditional low table - definitely noted for next time! I ordered a mix of apps and sushi which were all delicious and my friend and I both had the sake sampler. So good! Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic gem of a place in Ottawa! The food is really good and authentic here. In fact, in the past several japanese cultural groups catered from here! We had a work party downstairs and the staff assisting us were very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu. The food was well made and delicious! All plates at our table of 13 were left empty by the staff came to cleanup. This place may be relocating next year due to the building of the hotel potentially being demolished, roughly in June, so I encourage everyone visiting to talk to the owner (gentleman usually at the front) and find out plans. I personally would like to support them since their food is great japanese in Ottawa!

We came here based on a recommendation, and unfortunately, left disappointed.I got two different rolls to try out. As soon as my food came, I noted how unappealing the presentation was. I've never had all my sushi, plus the ginger and wasabi, all served on a single dinner plate before. The ingredients used were subpar, and lacked flavour and freshness. Every piece of sushi was also different sized. As for the taste... it was some of the worst sushi rolls I've ever eaten. The service was decent, the only down side being nobody following up with our bill. Perhaps it was an off night for them, but that was very likely our first and last time there.

Amazing service, atmosphere and sushi! One of my favourite restaurants in the city. We got kamikaze roll, California roll, salmon sashimi and spicy scallop roll. Downstairs seating is really nice and they have private little rooms for your table.

I ordered the Kaisen Chirashi. There was a variety of sashimi and it was all fresh. The bed of sushi rice was seasoned well. I highly recommend this dish. I had Ohagi for dessert and it reminded me of home. Service was excellent!

Absolutely beautiful restaurant....brings me back to Japan ? The nigiri sushi and sashimi is among the freshest in Ottawa and very generous sized pieces! Kids loved the Tempura Udon and Chicken Karage. Service was also super friendly and fast. A must try if you are looking for really fresh sushi in Ottawa. Enjoy!

Authentic Japanese food with friendly staff. Took my family with two toddlers for dinner. We were a walk in and they were able to seat the four of us, but recommend a reservation if you are a bigger group since they are quite busy. They were very accommodating and also had a Japanese style children’s menu. Nice to see Asahi beer on tap with a bunch of other good Japanese beers. Clean, nice atmosphere and excellent quality of food. Mr. Arai and his team delivered a great experience! Will be definitely going back for the Omakase.

Very delicious and authentic Japanese food! The sushi and sashimi are so fresh and the house salad is absolutely amazing! Definitely my favourite restaurant in Ottawa. They also even have a separate gluten free menu and offer gluten free soy sauce! The gluten free teriyaki chicken was very tasty and flavourful. It's a bit more expensive, but completely worth it! The décor is also quite beautiful and creates a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Very polite service. We came for a second time and were not disappointed. I had a couple of maki rolls and liked them a lot, beautiful rice, crisp ginger and fresh ingredients. We love going there for a delicious dinner in a relaxed, stylish place.
